HE
KEEPS WATCH UPON HIS OWN
BREAD
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2 He
makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Even
though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,
for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You
prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head
with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my
life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalms 23:1-6 (NIV)
6 For
the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will
perish. Psalms 1:6 (NIV)
12 Blessed
is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance. 13 From
heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind; 14 from
his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth--15 he
who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. Psalms 33:12-15 (NIV)
18 But
the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his
unfailing love. Psalms 33:18 (NIV)
15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears
are attentive to their cry. Psalms 34:15
(NIV)
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you
will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more
important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store
away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more
valuable than they? 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour
to his life ? 28 And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the
field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was
dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the
field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not
much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall
we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things,
and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all
these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry
about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew
6:25-34 (NIV)
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills--where does my help come
from? 2 My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. 3 He
will not let your foot slip--he who watches over you will not slumber; 4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor
sleep. 5 The LORD watches over you-- the LORD is your shade at your
right hand; 6 the
sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm--he will watch over
your life; 8 the
LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. Psalms 121:1-8 (NIV)
17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways and loving
toward all he has made. 18 The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who
call on him in truth. 19 He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he
hears their cry and saves them. 20 The LORD watches over all who love him, but all the
wicked he will destroy. Psalms 145:17-20
(NIV)
17 “The
LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in
you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with
singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)
“Let the beloved of the LORD rest secure
in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the LORD loves rests
between his shoulders.” Deuteronomy
33:12 (NIV)
27 The
eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. Deuteronomy 33:27 (NIV)
BUTTER
“You are His
peculiar care, His royal treasure that He guards as the apple of His eye, His
vineyard over which He watches day and night. ‘Even the hairs of your head are
all numbered.’6 Let the thought of His special love to you be a
spiritual painkiller, a soothing balm to your woe: ‘I will never leave you, nor
forsake you.’7 God says that just as much to you as to any saint of
old. ‘Fear not . . . I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.’8
We lose much consolation by the habit of reading His promises for the whole
Church instead of taking them directly home for ourselves.” C. H. Spurgeon

“No matter what may be the test, God will
take care of you; Lean weary one, upon His breast, God will take care of you.” Civilla D. Martin
“They who persevere in the power of
the Holy Spirit doing God’s will for His glory will not be want of
success. Even in what appears to be
failure in the world’s eyes, it is success in the Lords. For He allows nothing to
happen to His children which will not eventually be for their ultimate good and
His ultimate glory – never one surpassing the other. Continue on Christian in His power. God will be no man’s debtor. Be strong and firm then and wait on the
Lord. ‘13 I am
still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the
living. 4 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait
for the LORD.’” Psalms 27:13-14

“I am come to find you wherever you may be. I will look for you till the eyes of My pity
see you. I will follow you till the
hands of My mercy reach you, and I will still hold you…to My heart.” Charles H. Spurgeon
