WHO’S
YOUR DADDY?
BREAD
1 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us,
that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason
the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Dear
friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made
known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see
him as he is. 3 Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself,
just as he is pure. 1 John 3:1-3 (NIV)
9 “This, then, is how you should
pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as
it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us
from the evil one.'” Matthew 6:9-13 (NIV)
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not
worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you
will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important
than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not
sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?” Matthew 6:25-27 (NIV)
42 Jesus said to them, “If God
were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. 43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry
out your father’s desire. He was a
murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in
him. When he lies, he speaks his native
language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you
believe me? 47 He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not
belong to God.” John 8:42-47 (NIV)
1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born
of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 2 This
is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out
his commands. 3 This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his
commands are not burdensome, 4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is
the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who
is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of
God. 1 John 5:1-5 (NIV)
13 For if you live according to the sinful nature, you
will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you
will live, 14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are
sons of God. 15 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a
slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The
Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now
if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ,
if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his
glory. Romans 8:12-17 (NIV)
29 Then
I said to you, “Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them. 30 The
LORD your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you
in Egypt, before your very eyes, 31 and in the desert. There you saw how the LORD your God
carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you
reached this place.” Deuteronomy 1:29-31
(NIV)
3 I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh, praise the
greatness of our God! 4 He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his
ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he. 5 They have acted corruptly toward him; to their shame
they are no longer his children, but a warped and crooked generation. 6 Is
this the way you repay the LORD, O foolish and unwise people? Is he not your
Father, your Creator, who made you and formed you? Deuteronomy 32:3-6 (NIV)
4 Sing to God, sing praise to his name, extol him who
rides on the clouds -- his name is the LORD-- and rejoice before him. 5 A
father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. 6 God
sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the
rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. Psalms
68:4-6 (NIV)

“If you are Christ’s, let me advise you to
do four things. You belong to Jesus—obey Him;
let His word be your law; let His wish be your will. You belong to the Beloved;
then love Him; let your heart
embrace Him; let your whole soul be filled with Him. You belong to the Son of
God; then trust him; rest on
nothing or no one but on Him. You belong to the King of kings; then be decided for Him. Thus even without
being marked with a sign everyone will know to whom you belong.” C. H. Spurgeon

“Receiving
the Father nature of God is essential if we are to love Him and be assured of
His love, trust Him, be secure in Him, pray to Him, yield to Him, live holy
before Him, receive His guidance, serve Him, be like Him, and much more. Spend
time with your Father in His word, His love letter to you. Receive His
Father love for you.” Sylvia Gunter
“While I regarded God as a tyrant I thought my sin a trifle; But when I knew Him to be my Father, then I mourned that I could ever have kicked against Him. When I thought God was hard, I found it easy to sin; but when I found God so kind, so good, so overflowing with compassion, I smote upon my breast to think that I could ever have rebelled against One who loved me so, and sought my good.” C.H. Spurgeon

“Nothing
happened to our Lord Jesus that did not come within the boundaries of the
Father’s purposes. And as Ephesians
teaches us, our lives are planned in the same way. The one thing that matters is how we meet
what happens. Limitations and
frustrations can’t cast the smallest handful of dust on the glory of God…for
His way is perfect.” Amy
Carmichael
“Abandon the worries....and
Abide in the Word. Abandon the
fears...and Abide in the Father. Abandon
the hurts...and Abide in His heart. Abandon
the cares...because Christ will never abandon you. It’s what I self-preach again and again to
the fearful sinner who is me: Abandon and Abide.” Ann Voskamp

His children unless He means to give them something better.” George Muller“His love in times past forbids me to think, He’ll leave me at last in trouble to sink.” John Newton
