STAND
FIRM
BREAD
13 Therefore
put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be
able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt
of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in
place, 15 and
with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take
up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of
the evil one. 17 Take
the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all
occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert
and always keep on praying for all the saints. Ephesians 6:13-18 (NIV)
1 It is
for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let
yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1 (NIV)
7 Be
patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for
the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and
spring rains. 8 You
too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near. James 5:7-8 (NIV)
13 Moses
answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the
deliverance the Lord will bring
you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:13-14 (NIV)
17 “You
will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see
the deliverance the Lord will give
you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to
face them tomorrow, and the Lord
will be with you.” 2 Chronicles 20:17
(NIV)
1 I
waited patiently for the Lord; he
turned to me and heard my cry. 2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and
mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. Psalms 40:1-2 (NIV)

“Faith raises the soul above the
difficulty, straight to God Himself, and enables one to stand still. We gain nothing by our restless and anxious
efforts….It is therefore true wisdom, in all times of difficulty and perplexity,
to stand still – to wait only upon God, and He will assuredly open a way for
us.” C.H. Mackintosh “To learn strong faith is to endure great trials. I have learned my faith by standing firm amid severe testings.” George Mueller
“When captivity is
led captive, the Eternal God is the refuge of his people...Our sins which
pursued us so hotly have been drowned in the depths of the Savior's Blood. They
sank to the bottom like stones, the depths have covered them, there is not one,
no, not one of them left, and we, standing upon the shore in safety, can shout
in triumph over our drowned sins, ‘Sing unto the Lord for he hath triumphed
gloriously, and all our iniquities hath he cast into the midst of the sea.’” Charles
Spurgeon
“O
God, never suffer us to think that we can stand by ourselves, and not need
Thee.” John
Donne
“You can stand
tall without standing on someone. You can be a victor without having victims.” Harriet Woods
“Until
a man learns how to take a blow and keep on standing he will never produce a
steady walk of faith.” Alan Stewart
“Despair whispers,
"Lie down and die; give it all up."... But, however much Satan may
urge this course upon you, you cannot follow it if you are a child of God. His
divine fiat has bid thee go from strength to strength, and so thou shalt, and
neither death nor hell shall turn thee from thy course. What if for a while
thou art called to stand still; yet this is but to renew thy strength for some
greater advance in due time.” Charles H. Spurgeon
“When
Christians stand up for righteousness and justice, they evidence the power of
the living God.” Charles Colson
HEART SAVOR
·
God
allows me to stand firm in all circumstances through His power. I do not need to fear as it is He Who causes
me to stand and He is faithful and able to cause me to stand.
·
Apart from
His power I cannot stand.
·
God places
my feet on a firm place to stand – the rock of Jesus.
