MY CONSTANT FAITHFUL
BREAD
21 Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: 22 Because
of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They
are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. 24 I
say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” 25 The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the
one who seeks him; 26 it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the
LORD. Lamentations 3:21-26 (NIV)
4 He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his
ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He. Deuteronomy 32:4 (NIV)
23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for
he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23 (NIV)
4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is
faithful in all he does. 5 The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is
full of his unfailing love. Psalms 33:4-5 (NIV)
6 “I the LORD do not change.” Malachi 3:6 (NIV)
19 So then, those who suffer according to God’s will
should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good. 1 Peter 4:19 (NIV)
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and
will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 (NIV)
4 I always thank God for you because of his grace given
you in Christ Jesus. 5 For in him you have been enriched in every way--in all
your speaking and in all your knowledge-- 6 because
our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you. 7 Therefore
you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus
Christ to be revealed. 8 He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will
be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God,
who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is
faithful. 1 Corinthians 1:4-9 (NIV)
13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to
man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can
bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can
stand up under it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
(NIV)
3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and
protect you from the evil one. 4 We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and
will continue to do the things we command. 5 May
the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. 2 Thessalonians 3:3-5 (NIV)
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your
dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is faithful to all his promises and
loving toward all he has made. Psalms 145:13 (NIV)
BUTTER
“We don’t
normally like being on the bottom. It’s
just not the position we generally pick.
It goes against our flesh. Yet,
in the Bible’s economy you stoop to rise, you lower and God elevates. Therefore, rock bottom appears the perfect
place to simply look up and the perfect time to begin building upon the solid
foundation of the Rock of Christ. Often
stripped of our dearest Delilah’s we are not too dissimilar to the returning
prodigal. We have nothing but our will
to bring – do we really ever have anything else? And Jesus says tenderly, ‘Come’. On Him you can depend. On Him you can count. On Him you can trust. He turns away no one. He will never let the righteous fall or blow
away for that matter. His grip is firm
and secure. Much akin to a young mother
grabbing her two year old in busy traffic and yet so infinitely more. He dearly loves His children and He always
causes them to stand because He is faithful and able to cause us to stand – no
matter what wind blows.” BHY
“While there is
life, there is hope. The Spirit of God
is knocking faithfully at the door. If
we repent, mend our ways, throw off our sins, we can yet be used of God to
bring healing and help to a dying civilization.” Billy Graham
“When God makes a
covenant with us, God says: ‘I will love you with an everlasting love. I will
be faithful to you, even when you run away from me, reject me, or betray me.’
In our society we don’t speak much about covenants; we speak about contracts.
When we make a contract with a person, we say: ‘I will fulfill my part as long
as you fulfill yours. When you don't live up to your promises, I no longer have
to live up to mine.’ Contracts are often broken because the partners are
unwilling or unable to be faithful to their terms. But God didn't make a contract with us; God
made a covenant with us, and God wants our relationships with one another to
reflect that covenant. That’s why marriage, friendship, life in community are
all ways to give visibility to God’s faithfulness in our lives together.” Henri Nouwen
“Let’s be careful to remember that God
has not chiefly called us to be awesome or to be ‘winners.’ Rather, he has
called us to live humble, faithful, forgiven, and free. For that, in truth, is
where all the true power is.” Scott Sauls
