ANGELS
AMONG US
BREAD
7 The angel of the LORD
encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Psalm 34:7 (NIV)
28 Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God
of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his
servants! They trusted in him and defied the king's command and were willing to
give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.” Daniel 3:28 (NIV)
21 Daniel answered, “O king, live forever! 22 My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, O king.” Daniel 6:21-22 (NIV)
21 Daniel answered, “O king, live forever! 22 My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, O king.” Daniel 6:21-22 (NIV)
17 Then the high priest and all his associates, who were
members of the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. 18 They arrested the apostles and put them in
the public jail. 19 But during the
night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out. 20 “Go, stand
in the temple courts,” he said, “and tell the people the full message of this
new life.” Acts 5:17-20 (NIV)
5 So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was
earnestly praying to God for him. 6 The
night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two
soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. 7 Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared
and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick,
get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter's wrists. 8 Then the angel said to him, “Put on your
clothes and sandals.” And Peter did so. “Wrap your cloak around you and follow
me,” the angel told him. 9 Peter followed him out of the prison, but he
had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he
was seeing a vision. 10 They passed the first and
second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them
by itself, and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one
street, suddenly the angel left him. Acts 12:5-10 (NIV)
10 “See that you do not look down on one of these
little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of
my Father in heaven.” Matthew 18:10-11 (NIV)
10 Let those who love the LORD
hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from
the hand of the wicked. Psalm 97:10 (NIV)
9 If you make the Most High your dwelling-- even the LORD, who is my refuge-- 10 then no harm will befall you, no disaster
will come near your tent. 11 For
he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so
that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent. 14
“Because he loves me,” says the LORD,
“I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. 15 He will call upon me, and I will answer
him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him and
show him my salvation.” Psalm
91:9-16 (NIV)
10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who
spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the
greatest care, 11 trying to
find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was
pointing when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would
follow. 12 It was revealed to
them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the
things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you
by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these
things. 1 Peter 1:10-12 (NIV)
14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to
serve those who will inherit salvation? Hebrews 1:14 (NIV)

“Angels are beings who help people
against evil forces. They perform
certain duties, without which we could not always be able to achieve a certain goal
or station in life. Angels are just one
more example of how God cares for and protects us against the forces of Satan, which
are constantly trying to defeat us.”
Billy Graham
“When a home is ruled according to
the Word of God, angels might be asked to stay a night with us, and they would
not find themselves out of their element.” Charles
Spurgeon
“Angels serve believers and are always looking at the face of God so as to hear His command to help believers.” J. D. Watson
“Angels accomplish their ministry on behalf of the heirs of salvation in various ways, including: instruction, deliverance, comfort and, finally, reception at death. They were created to be ministering spirits, continually sent forth to minister (that is, serve) those who shall be heirs of salvation.” Henry Morris
“Angels have keen intellects. They far excel us. Yet, though they have learned so much about the gospel, they still desire to look into it. Does anyone suppose that he knows all about the gospel and does not need further hours of study, thought, and prayer? Poor miserable fool! Angels, who are vastly superior to us in intelligence, desire to learn and know more. This is a grand thing. As the angels are such deep students of the things of God, let us try to be the same.” C. H. Spurgeon
“Angels are created beings who work for God on the behalf of His children. They follow His commands concerning us and were not created simply to do our bidding. They administer service – assisting believers by God’s will and under His direction. God’s ways are not our ways nor His thoughts our thoughts – they are supremely higher whether we are able to discern this fact or not it nevertheless remains true. Further, He always has our best interest at heart and even if circumstances are not of our choosing and remain unchanging we can be assured that the results will ultimately be for our good and for His glory – never one surpassing the other. Add to this, God will not allow us to put Him in a box – so to speak. There is no magic formula or prescribed manner for us to accomplish our will unless of course it is to stand firm in God’s. The Bible teaches that He uses angels to do his bidding and we can find comfort in knowing that out of His deep love for us He covers us with His protection in various forms and ways. Angelic hosts being one of them.” BHY
