ANGELS AMONG US

⁷ The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Psalm 34:7 (NIV)

²⁸ Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king's command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.”   Daniel 3:28 (NIV)

²¹ Daniel answered, “O king, live forever! ²² My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, O king.”  Daniel 6:21-22 (NIV)

⁵ So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. ⁶ The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. ⁷ Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter's wrists. ⁸ Then the angel said to him, “Put on your clothes and sandals.” And Peter did so. “Wrap your cloak around you and follow me,” the angel told him.  ⁹ Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision. ¹⁰ They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. ¹⁰ Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, ¹¹ trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. ¹² It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. “Angels are created beings who work for God on the behalf of His children.  They follow His commands concerning us and were not created simply to do our bidding.  They administer service – assisting believers by God’s will and under His direction.  God’s ways are not our ways nor His thoughts our thoughts – they are supremely higher whether we are able to discern this fact or not it nevertheless remains true.  Further, He always has our best interest at heart and even if circumstances are not of our choosing and remain unchanging we can be assured that the results will ultimately be for our good and for His glory – never one surpassing the other.  Add to this, God will not allow us to put Him in a box – so to speak.  There is no magic formula or prescribed manner for us to accomplish our will unless of course it is to stand firm in God’s.  The Bible teaches that He uses angels to do his bidding and we can find comfort in knowing that out of His deep love for us He covers us with His protection in various forms and ways.  Angelic hosts being one of them.”   BHY
