BE
FILLED
BREAD
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled. Matthew
5:6 (NIV)
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have
come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10 (NIV)
11 You
crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance. Psalms
65:11 (NIV)
1 The Lord is my
shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me
lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake. 4 Even though
I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you
are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare
a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows. 6 Surely
goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in
the house of the Lord forever. Psalms
23:1-6 (NIV)
7 The
angel of the Lord encamps around
those who fear him, and he delivers them. 8 Taste and see that the Lord
is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. 9 Fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear
him lack nothing. 10 The
lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. Psalms 34:7-10 (NIV)
11 You
have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your
presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Psalms 16:11 (NIV)
9 And
this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and
depth of insight, 10 so
that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless
until the day of Christ, 11 filled
with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ--to the glory
and praise of God. Philippians 1:9-11
(NIV)
15 Be
very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every
opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the
Lord's will is. 18 Do not
get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the
Spirit. Ephesians 5:15-18 (NIV)
37 On the
last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever
believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow
from within him.” John 7:37-38
(NIV)
1 “Come,
all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come,
buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. 2 Why spend money on what is not
bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat
what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. 3 Give ear and come to me; hear
me, that your soul may live.” Isaiah
55:1-3 (NIV)

“God
is the only source of true happiness, because He offers those intangibles that
we mistakenly believe can be found on earth:
contentment, security, peace, and hope for the future. None of these can be found in a job, a human
relationship, money, power, or position.
They are God’s alone to give…The Lord Jesus, in His Sermon on the Mount,
told where ultimate happiness lies: ‘Blessed
are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled”
(Matthew 5:6). This is God’s promise –
and it is true. Riches…or righteousness? Which is your goal?” Billy Graham
“Empty me
of the selfishness inside. Every vain
ambition and the poison of my pride. Empty me of me so I can be filled with You.” Chris Sligh
“He
who is filled with love is filled with God Himself.” Augustine
“Spirit-filled
souls are ablaze for God.” Samuel
Chadwick
“God
will empty out all that thou hast before He will put His own into thee; He will
first clean out the granaries before He will fill them with the finest of the
wheat……Your emptiness is but the preparation for your being filled, and your
casting down is but the making ready for your lifting up.” C. H. Spurgeon
“If there is anything in your
life more than your longing after God, you will never be a Spirit-filled
Christian.” A. W. Tozer
“Tarry not for a convenient time. The movings of the Spirit are never convenient to the interests of the flesh, and I shall engineer your circumstances to conform to My plan and My will. You will glorify Me; for My plan for you excels all other ways, and in the center of My will is a perpetual fountain of glory.” Frances J. Roberts
“In the gospel
there is that that can make you immovable, always abounding in the work of the
Lord. There is no passion, no affection, no thought, no wish, no power which
the gospel has not filled to the very brim. The gospel was obviously meant for
manhood; it is adapted to it in its every part. There is knowledge for the
head; there is love for the heart; there is guidance for the foot.” Charles
H. Spurgeon
“In a command to ‘be joyful,’ self-discipline isn’t the
goal. It isn’t an effective response or
even a realistic one. We can’t change
our hearts simply by telling them to change.
We can, however, realize that our attitudes are off-kilter and ask Him
to supernaturally change them. He holds
hearts in His hand; He can certainly sway them with His thoughts and fill them
with His Spirit. If we are going to be
people who are always joyful, this is how it has to be. We can’t follow this instruction in the midst
of trying circumstances unless we have a radical change of perspective and
supernatural help. Biblical commands to
rejoice – especially in suffering, persecution, and the intense trials of life
– can only be fulfilled when we depend on Him.” Chris Tiegreen
“I’ll never forget being prayed for by Ray, a friend whose
world is one filled with material poverty, homelessness, setbacks and empty
hands. Ray prayed strong and spontaneous – that I, the pastor of the big church
from Nashville, Tennessee who writes books and has a blog and lives in a comfy
house and has never been concerned about missing a meal and has always been
able to pay his bills – would know the security of the Father’s care, the smile
of the Father’s love, the freedom of the Father’s grace, the intimacy of the
Father’s arms, the friendship of the Father’s family, and the abundance of the Father’s provision.
Ray prayed as a man who, possessing close to nothing,
possessed all things. He prayed as a man with empty hands but a full heart. He
prayed as a man with abundant gratitude, as if he had a secret treasure stored
up in a world that I had only heard and talked about, but perhaps had not yet
seen. In that moment, I
began to wonder which of us was really living large and which was living in
scarcity. I began to wonder which of us was running with two legs and which of
us was running with one. I began to wonder which of us was carrying the aces
and which of us was carrying an empty hand. As Luther aptly said, ‘We are all
beggars, this is true.’” Scott Sauls
HEART SAVOR
·
God desires for me to be filled with His Spirit not the lust
of the flesh that will always keep me wanting, wanting, wanting. His way is supremely the best for my
life. Supremely.
- · I am to pray for the desire to hunger and thirst for righteousness – to stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured, for the Spirit to have full control of my life, for me to hold back nothing. Remember Paul’s words: 6 We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 No, we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him” -- 10 but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 1 Corinthians 2:6-10 (NIV)

No one ever out gives God, the Giver of every good and perfect
