THE
MAJESTY OF GOD
BREAD
1 In the
year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and
exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphs, each
with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered
their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one
another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord
Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” 4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and
thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. 5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am
ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean
lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord
Almighty.” 6 Then
one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken
with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has
touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” Isaiah 6:1-7 (NIV)
1 Then
the Lord answered Job out of the
storm. He said: 2 “Who
is this that darkens my counsel with words without knowledge? 3 Brace yourself like a man; I
will question you, and you shall answer me. 4 Where were you when I laid the
earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand. 5 Who marked off its dimensions?
Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? 6 On what were its footings set,
or who laid its cornerstone-- 7 while the morning stars sang together and all the
angels shouted for joy? 8 Who
shut up the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the womb, 9 when I made the clouds its
garment and wrapped it in thick darkness, 10 when I fixed limits for it and set its doors and bars
in place, 11 when I
said, ‘This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves
halt’?” Job 38:1-11 (NIV)
21 Do you
not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have
you not understood since the earth was founded? 22 He sits enthroned above the
circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the
heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. 23 He brings princes to naught
and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing. 24 No sooner are they planted, no
sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows
on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff. 25 “To whom will you compare me?
Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One. 26 Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created
all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by
name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is
missing. Isaiah 40:21-26 (NIV)
2 Great
are the works of the Lord; they
are pondered by all who delight in them. 3 Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his
righteousness endures forever. Psalms
111:2-3 (NIV)
1 The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty; the
Lord is robed in majesty and is
armed with strength. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved. 2 Your throne was established
long ago; you are from all eternity. Psalms
93:1-2 (NIV)
1 The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble; he
sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake. 2 Great is the Lord in Zion; he is exalted over all the
nations. 3 Let
them praise your great and awesome name-- He is holy. Psalms 99:1-3 (NIV)
9 Remember
the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am
God, and there is none like me. 10 I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient
times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all
that I please. Isaiah 46:9-10 (NIV)

“In the church we seem to have lost the vision of the majesty of
God.” John Stott
“We cannot be said
to know God if we have not discovered that there is in him an incomparable
glory and majesty.” John Calvin
“The Lord’s presence is infinite, His brightness
insupportable, His majesty awe-full, His dominion boundless, and His
sovereignty incontestable.” Matthew Henry
“The King of Glory enters Jerusalem seated on a donkey's colt. Majesty is never so majestic as when it is clothed with humility. There never was one so majestic as this Jesus, none so humble. Nor shall there ever be.” Ronnie Collier Stevens
“Only
Thou art holy; There is none beside, Thee Perfect in power, In love, and
purity.” Reginald
Heber
“One of the greatest lies we believe is that it is better to be
accepted by the group than to stand alone for being different. Yet being
different is one of the core attributes of God Himself. God is holy. He is
different and set apart from all of His creation. We cannot compare Him to
anyone or anything else. Our human goodness can never reach anywhere near God's
perfection. God said, “‘To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?’ says
the Holy One” (Isaiah 40:25). God wants
all of His children to be different just like He is different. ‘It is God's
will that you should be sanctified’ (1 Thessalonians 4:3). God calls us to be
different from the world, to stand against the immorality of our culture, to
set ourselves apart from the secular.” Michael
Youssef
“The
Father in heaven loves to fill His children with His Holy Spirit.” Andrew
Murray
“God’s greatest glory is His grace.” Donald Grey Barnhouse
“Contrary to the
world's beliefs, the spiritual fruit of self-control does not come about
through the discipline of self-mastery, but rather through surrendering
ourselves to God's control. None of us fully have the power, capability, or
wisdom to master our own lives. You cannot resist all the temptations that are
hurled at you, control the behavior of those closest to you, or limit the ideas
that pop into your mind. What you can do is surrender your life to the Holy
Spirit. You can control how you respond, yield, and submit to Him.” Michael Youssef
HEART SAVOR
- · Make no mistake about it, God is on His Throne – right where He has always been. It is He Who is in control of all things, no plan of His can be thwarted.
- · God is Holy, He is set apart, He is so totally other, there is none like Him.
- · God empowers His children with His Spirit that we may walk as Jesus did – it is impossible for us to do anything eternal in our own strength. It is only through the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit – which is the good and perfect gift given to all who trust in Jesus.
