UNSTOPPED
EARS TO RIGHTEOUS REBUKES
BREAD
11 My
son, do not despise the Lord's
discipline and do not resent his rebuke, 12 because the Lord
disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in. 13 Blessed is the man who finds
wisdom, the man who gains understanding, 14 for she is more profitable than silver and yields
better returns than gold. 15 She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire
can compare with her. Proverbs 3:11-15
(NIV)
5 Let a
righteous man strike me--it is a kindness; let him rebuke me--it is oil on my
head. My head will not refuse it. Yet my prayer is ever against the deeds of
evildoers. Psalms 141:5 (NIV)
8 Do not
rebuke a mocker or he will hate you; rebuke a wise man and he will love you. Proverbs 9:8 (NIV)
31 He who
listens to a life-giving rebuke will be at home among the wise. 32 He who ignores discipline
despises himself, but whoever heeds correction gains understanding. 33 The fear of the Lord teaches a man wisdom, and humility
comes before honor. Proverbs 15:31-33
(NIV)
10 A
rebuke impresses a man of discernment more than a hundred lashes a fool. Proverbs 17:10 (NIV)
5 Better
is open rebuke than hidden love. 6 Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy
multiplies kisses. Proverbs 27:5-6 (NIV)
Rebuke
a discerning man, and he will gain knowledge. Proverbs 19:25 (NIV)
an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is a wise man's rebuke to a listening
ear. Proverbs 25:12 (NIV)
1 A wise
son heeds his father's instruction, but a mocker does not listen to rebuke. Proverbs 13:1 (NIV)
5 And
you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons:
“My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, 6 because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.” 7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? 8 If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. 9 Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! 10 Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. 11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Hebrews 12:5-11 (NIV)

“Are we really willing to
listen? Are we so biased and set in our
own opinions and ways that we neglect to discern the fact that we perhaps don’t
know it all? Are we intellectually honest
with ourselves? Are we willing to change? Where do we go for Truth? Only God’s Word is True Truth – Infallible –
It will always stand – Always. Take all
advice and criticism with ears to hear – not defensively - and then weigh it
all out against God’s Holy Word. If it
is True and the shoe fits, by all means change it. If it doesn’t, disregard it. FYI – People seldom listen unless they feel
safe and loved and valued as another human being.” BHY
Scripture states: 10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do
not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so
that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is my word that goes out
from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I
desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:10-11 (NIV)
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the
Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 I tell
you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not
the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until
everything is accomplished.” Matthew
5:17-18 (NIV)

voice of God is a friendly voice. No one
need fear to listen to it unless he has already made up his mind to resist it.” A.W.

“God often uses the repetitive events and themes in daily life to get
my attention and draw me closer to Himself. Now instead of just listening for
God's whisper, I am trying to recognize the sacred echoes- those moments when
God speaks the same message to my heart again and again. I call them sacred
echoes because I've noticed that throughout my relationships, daily life, and
study, the same scripturally sound idea or phrase or word will keep reappearing
until I can no longer avoid its presence. Is this mere coincidence or is it
something more? When it comes to hearing from God, I firmly believe the Bible
is our source and authority. God's Word is like a megaphone to His people.
Throughout Scripture God speaks through kings and queens, princes and prophets,
poets and pilgrims. He speaks through weather patterns, barnyard animals and
even the stars in the sky. God is not only creative, but He is persistent in
getting our attention and communicating with us.” Margaret Feinberg
“We
should always keep Christ before our eyes.
The devil continually tempts us to abandon Christ and seek the Father,
saying to ourselves, ‘This or that will please him’. Meanwhile we ignore Christ—the One the Father
sent—so that we might listen to Him alone.
We respond as the Pharisees did and reject Christ. We wonder, ‘Where is the Father?’ That is the question that world asks. This is the greatest temptation to your
faith. You must devote yourself to the
Word of Christ and train yourself to hold on to it so that you never lose sight
Jesus.” Martin
Luther
“Just so you know,
the need for repentance, redemption, and forgiveness is universal. I don't care
if you are a liberal or a conservative, a religious fanatic or a militant
atheist, a ‘spiritual’/’religious’ person or someone who runs from all that. It
doesn’t matter to me if you listen to Billy Graham or follow Camus—you are in
need. No one in the human race is exempt.
Its in our DNA…When we finally acknowledge our need for forgiveness and
come to God in repentance, we find true power; for we now have nothing to hide
or protect, we don't care what people say or think about us, we are willing to
speak truth gently, and we are enabled to speak with tremendous, supernatural
power.”

am listening, Lord, for Thee; what hast Thou to say to me?” Frances Havergal

- · Wounds from a friend can be trusted.
- · Take all advice to the Word: 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)
- · People are more readily willing to listen if they do not feel threatened rather loved and valued. Is our motivation simply to get them to agree with our opinions or to believe the Truth of God’s Word? Examine Jesus’ life – He did not argue, He reasoned and stated with love and compassion and He often remained silent not throwing His Pearls carelessly.
