A
FOOL’S ERRAND
BREAD
15 The
way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice. 16 A fool shows his annoyance at
once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult.
Proverbs 12:15-16 (NIV)
1 The
fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are
vile; there is no one who does good.
Psalms 14:1 (NIV)
16 A wise
man fears the Lord and shuns evil,
but a fool is hotheaded and reckless. 17 A quick-tempered man does foolish things, and a crafty
man is hated. Proverbs 14:16-17 (NIV)
12 Better
to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than a fool in his folly. Proverbs 17:12 (NIV)
16 Of
what use is money in the hand of a fool, since he has no desire to get
wisdom? Proverbs 17:16 (NIV)
2 A fool
finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.
Proverbs 18:2 (NIV)
9 Do not
speak to a fool, for he will scorn the wisdom of your words. Proverbs 23:9 (NIV)
11 As a
dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly. Proverbs 26:11 (NIV)
22 Though
you grind a fool in a mortar, grinding him like grain with a pestle, you will
not remove his folly from him.
Proverbs 27:22 (NIV)
16 And he
told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich
man produced a good crop. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What
shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ 18 Then
he said, ‘This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger
ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And
I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many
years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.’” 20 "But
God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from
you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ 21 This
is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich
toward God.” Luke 12:16-21

“We live a life- and
make a legacy- one day and once choice at a time. May God enable each of us to
be the "real deal," not for our glory but for His. ‘The wise woman builds her house, but the
foolish tears it down with her own hands.’” (Proverbs 14:1) Donna Evans
“An
awakened heart trembles at the audacity of sin, and stands alarmed at the
contemplation of its punishment. How
monstrous a thing is rebellion! How
direful a doom is prepared for the ungodly!
My soul, never laugh at sin’s fooleries, lest thou come to smile at sin
itself. It is thine enemy, and thy
Lord’s enemy – view it with detestation, for so only canst thou evidence the
possession of holiness, without which no man can see the Lord.” C.H. Spurgeon
“Want of
trust is at the root of almost all our sins and all our weaknesses, and how
shall we escape it but by looking to Him and observing His faithfulness. The man who holds God’s faithfulness will not
be foolhardy or reckless, but will be ready for every emergency.” Hudson Taylor
“He
who provides for this life, but takes no care for eternity, is wise for a
moment, but a fool forever.” John Tillotson
“You
cannot imagine how great is people’s foolishness…..by hoping in themselves and
putting trust in their own knowledge.”
St. Catherine
“We are
half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when
infinite joy is offered us. We are far
too easily pleased.” C. S. Lewis
“Every attribute of God should become a fresh ray in the
sunlight of our gladness. That He is
wise should make us glad, knowing as we do our own foolishness. That He is mighty should cause us to rejoice
who tremble at our weakness. That He is
everlasting, should always be a theme of joy when we know that we wither as the
grass. That He is un-changing, should
perpetually yield us a song, since we change every hour. That He is full of grace, that He is
overflowing with it, and that this grace in covenant He has given to us; that
it is ours to cleanse us, ours to keep us, ours to sanctify us, ours to perfect
us, ours to bring us to glory – all this should tend to make us glad in
Him. This gladness in God is as a deep
river; we have only as yet touched its brink, we know a little of its clear
sweet, heavenly streams, but onward the depth is greater, and the current more
impetuous in its joy.” Charles
H. Spurgeon
“He is no fool who gives up what he
cannot keep to keep what he cannot lose.” Jim ElliotHEART SAVOR
·
The
foolish do not listen to advice and show their annoyance at once. They lean on their own limited understanding.
·
The
foolish do not desire wisdom or shun evil but find pleasure in airing their own
opinions. Sadly, they continually repeat
their folly.
·
I am to
fear the Lord and lean not on my own understanding. In all my ways I am to fool'sacknowledge Him and He
will make my path straight. Praise Him!
