IT
IS ALL JESUS
BREAD
1 Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm
of the LORD been revealed? 2 He
grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He
had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that
we should desire him. 3 He
was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with
suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him
not. 4 Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet
we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed
for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by
his wounds we are healed. 6 We
all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and
the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He
was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a
lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did
not open his mouth. 8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away. And who can
speak of his descendants? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for
the transgression of my people he was stricken. 9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich
in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to
suffer, and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his
offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his
hand. 11 After
the suffering of his soul, he will see the light [of life] and be satisfied; by
his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their
iniquities. Isaiah 53:1-11 (NIV)
23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:22-23 (NIV)
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is
eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 (NIV)
6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still
powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very
rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might
possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:6-8 (NIV)
21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that
in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV)
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through
faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- 9 not
by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus
to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:8-10 (NIV)
14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced
that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And
he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but
for him who died for them and was raised again. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 (NIV)

“Before God saves a man,
He convicts him of his ‘sinnership.’” A. W.

“The
Grand Doctrines of eternal truth are frequently treated as venerable
non-entities, and have no effect whatever upon the conduct of those who
profess to receive them, because they do not realize them as matters of fact,
or see their solemn bearings. It is shocking to reflect that a change in the
weather has more effect on some men’s lives than the dread alternative of
heaven or hell. A woman’s glance affects them more than the eye
of God. We cannot, however, be
content with this; we labor that those around us may savingly believe by
putting their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the grand saving act: The
man brings his soul and commits it to Christ for safe keeping, and that
entrusting of the soul to Jesus saves him. He makes the Saviour trustee of his
spiritual estates, and leaves himself and all his eternal interests in those
dear hands which once were nailed to the cross. Oh, how we long to see the Holy
Spirit bringing men to this, that they may believe in Jesus Christ by resting
in Him and trusting upon Him. For this we live, for this we would be content to
die, that many might believe.” Charles
Haddon Spurgeon
“Though,
your faith is as weak as a single strand of a spider’s web, if it is faith in
Christ, it is saving faith; because it is not faith that saves, it is not even faith
in Christ that saves, it is Christ who saves.” John
Murray
“If you are
Christ’s, let me advise you to do four things. You belong to Jesus—obey Him; let His word be your law; let His
wish be your will. You belong to the Beloved; then love Him; let your heart embrace Him; let your
whole soul be filled with Him. You belong to the Son of God; then trust him; rest on nothing or no one but
on Him. You belong to the King of kings; then be
decided for Him. Thus even
without being marked with a sign everyone will know to whom you belong.” C. H. Spurgeon revised by Alistair Begg
“God is not saving
the world; it is done. Our business is
to get men and women to realize it.” Oswald
Chambers
“If Jesus Christ be God and died for me,
then no sacrifice can be too great for me to make for Him.” C. T.
Studd
“We have every reason to hold on firmly to the faith we
profess, for He who has called us is faithful!
It is Jesus who saves us, lives to intercede for us, allows us to
approach the throne of grace with confidence, and grants us His abundant grace,
mercy, and peace.” BHY
“When a believer has fallen into a low, sad state of
feeling, he often tries to lift himself out of it by chastening himself with
dark and doleful fears. Such is not the way to rise from the dust, but to continue
in it. It is not the law, but the gospel which saves the seeking soul at first;
and it is not a legal bondage, but gospel liberty which can restore the
fainting believer afterwards. Slavish fear brings not back the backslider to
God, but the sweet wooings of love allure him to Jesus’ bosom…Whatever good
quality there is in divine grace, you shall enjoy it to the full. All the
riches of divine grace you shall receive in plenty; you shall be as it were
drenched with it: and as sometimes the meadows become flooded by the bursting
rivers, and the fields are turned into pools, so shall you be--the thirsty land
shall be springs of water.”
Charles Spurgeon
HEART SAVOR
·
Every human born since
Adam has been born with the sin nature and is in desperate need of a Savior. There are no exceptions to this. No one can stand before a Holy God apart from the righteousness
of Christ. Thank God we have a Savior in
Jesus. He took all our sins and nailed
them to the cross and bestowed upon us a robe of righteousness. Apart from Christ, all our “good” acts are as
filthy rags in God’s sight. We can never
be good enough. We are all found
wanting.
·
By His death He
disarmed the powers and the authorities by making a public spectacle of them
triumphing over them by the cross.
·
Christ’s love
compels us to live for Him.
