Peace Is Given Not Gained Isaiah 9:6-7 Isaiah 61:10-11 Isaiah 32:17-18 Psalms 29:11 Colossians 1:19-20 Philippians 4:6-7 John 14:26-27 John 16:33 Colossians 3:15 Isaiah 26:3 06.29.20

PEACE IS GIVEN NOT GAINED
BREAD

6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.  Isaiah 9:6-7 (NIV)

10 I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God.  For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. 11 For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign LORD will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations.  Isaiah 61:10-11 (NIV)

17 The fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever. 18 My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.   Isaiah 32:17-18 (NIV)

11 The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.  Psalms 29:11 (NIV)

19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.  Colossians 1:19-20 (NIV)

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)

27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”  John 14:26-27 (NIV)

33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33 (NIV)

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.  Colossians 3:15 (NIV)

3 You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3 (NIV)

“Peace comes not from the absence of trouble, but from the presence of God.”  Alexander Maclaren

“God alone can bless His people, keep them, look on them with favor (make His face shine and turn His face toward them), be gracious to them, and give them peace.”  The Bible Knowledge Commentary

“Many of God’s promises are conditional on our behavior – our choices, our priorities, our motivations, our actions.  There are many “If” and “Then” statements in Scripture – promises that depend upon our behavior yet there are also many promises that are not, namely, “I will never leave you nor forsake you”, “I will not leave you as orphans”, “No one can snatch them out of my hand”, “In this world you will have trouble” (as hard as that is to swallow) followed by “but take heart!  I have overcome the world”, “I am coming soon”, etc., etc., etc.  We do ourselves a great injustice and rob ourselves of much peace if we are not thoroughly acquainted with the promises of His Word.  They are given to us for both a comfort and joy.”   BHY

“The world can create trouble in peace, but God can create peace in trouble.”   Thomas Watson

“Stayed upon Jehovah, hearts are fully blessed, finding as He promised, perfect peace and rest.”   Frances Havergal

HEART SAVOR

  • ·         Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
  • ·         He wraps us in a robe of righteousness the fruit of which is peace.
  • ·         His peace is not as the world gives – it is not circumstantial, rather it is an abiding   perfect peace no matter what the circumstances.
