Love Lifted Me Up Psalms 18:16-19 Psalms 27:5-6 Psalms 40:1-3 Isaiah 63:9 Isaiah 40:29-31 Psalms 3:3-4 1 Peter 5:10-11 James 4:7-10 1 Peter 5:6-7 Psalms 27:14 08.07.19

LOVE LIFTED ME UP
BREAD

16 He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. 17 He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. 18 They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support. 19 He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.  Psalm 18:16-19 (NIV)

5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. 6 Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.   Psalm 27:5-6 (NIV)

1 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. 2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. 3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.   Psalm 40:1-3 (NIV)

9 In all their distress he too was distressed, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and mercy he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old. Isaiah 63:9 (NIV)

29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.   Isaiah 40:29-31 (NIV)

3 But you are a shield around me, O LORD; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.
4 To the LORD I cry aloud, and he answers me from his holy hill. Selah  Psalm 3:3-4 (NIV)

10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.
 1 Peter 5:10-11 (NIV)

7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.   James 4:7-10 (NIV)

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.   1 Peter 5:6-7 (NIV)

14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.  Psalm 27:14 (NIV)

“I was sinking deep in sin  Far from the peaceful shore   Very deeply stained within  Sinking to rise no more  But the Master of the sea  Heard my despairing cry  From the waters lifted me  Now safe am I  Love lifted me, love lifted me  When nothing else could help  Love lifted me  Love lifted me, love lifted me  When nothing else could help  Love lifted me.  All my heart to Him I give  Ever to Him I'll cling  In His blessed presence live  Ever His praises sing  Love so mighty and so true  Merits my soul’s best songs  Faithful, loving service too, to Him belongs  Love lifted me, love lifted me  When nothing else could help  Love lifted me  Love lifted me, love lifted me  When nothing else could help  Love lifted me.”  Alan Jackson

“Your emptiness is but the preparation for your being filled, and your casting down is but the making ready for your lifting up.”   C. H. Spurgeon

“Praising God lifts us above our trials and reminds us of how He overcomes them….Our praise reminds us of Who God is.  As we worship Him, the threats and burdens that weigh us down grow smaller and He grows bigger.  The thought of an exalted God Who is entirely on our side is an awesome inspiration….Praise is based on Who He is.  And He is Who He is all the time.”   Chris Tiegreen

“Chosen one of God, may you find it easy to follow your King. May you find your life when you are willing to lose it for the sake of the Kingdom. May our Lord lift you up to a place higher than you could ever dream. May your choice to follow Christ echo throughout all generations that follow you, and may you receive rewards on earth and in heaven for your commitment to live for our mighty Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen.”   Sheri Rose Shepherd

“A person who has an undisciplined spirit or no self-control is like a city without walls. He or she is open to enemy attack at any given moment. When we fail to exercise a spirit of self-control, the wild animals of jealousy, rage, frustration, gossip, bearing a false witness, and more can enter our lives easily and unopposed. A lack of self-control is Satan's way of preparing us for destruction. However, you do not have to fall victim to the enemy's schemes. You have all you need to stand firm in your faith. God is the one who strengthens you. When you fall in battle and cry out to Him, He rushes to your side and lifts you up.”   Michael Youssef
“When God doesn’t prevent suffering, He gives us perspective on suffering. Sometimes you just have to get a ‘God’s-eye’ view to see that the master potter is scooping up all the rubble and ruin from your low place to mold and create good in your life. His love reaches down into the dirt – what you may think is utter defeat or hopeless – and lifts you to see that He can turn what you may view as worthless into something worthwhile.  God can take what we think is worthless and turn it into something worthwhile. Often, when we’re down, all we can see is the valley, the wasteland – we feel like our lives are a mess. But our loving God does not see us and our low places that way. The stuff you think may be just too messy, too ugly, too far gone is the stuff God is infusing with purpose.  The sorrow that hurts you? God fashions it into faith that sustains you.  The sin you’re ashamed of?  God uses it to create beautiful humility. The failures you regret? God turns them into wisdom.  The grief that shattered your heart? God crafts that into unshakeable faith.  The missed opportunities? God uses those to make you reflect His grace.  The loss you never expected? God molds that into strength you can’t explain.  God can make your low place a stepping stone to climb higher with Him.  He can take even the worst things in your life – the injustice, defeat, abandonment or failure – to create the best for you, His beloved child.”   Jennifer Rothschild

“If we know what redemption means, let us not withhold our hymns of thanksgiving. We have been redeemed from the power of our corruptions, lifted from the depth of sin in which we were naturally plunged. We have been led to the cross of Christ—our shackles of guilt have been removed. We are no longer slaves, but children of the living God, and can anticipate the time when we will be presented before the throne without spot or wrinkle or any such thing.”  C. H. Spurgeon revised by Alistair Begg

HEART SAVOR

·         It is God Who lifts us out of the slimy pit of our sin and depravity and sets our feet upon the Rock of Christ where we are enabled to stand firm in all the perfect and pleasing will of God, mature and fully assured.
·         Sin shall not be our master – why do we wallow when we can fly?
·         Jesus came to set us free – be free.
