SATISFIED SOUL
BREAD
14
Satisfy
us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be
glad all our days. Psalm 90:14 (NIV)
1 Praise the LORD,
O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2 Praise the LORD,
O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-- 3 who
forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit and
crowns you with love and compassion, 5 who
satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the
eagle’s. Psalm 103:1-5 (NIV)
8 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men,
9 for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Psalm 107:8-9 (NIV)
9 for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Psalm 107:8-9 (NIV)
1 I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name
for ever and ever. 2 Every day I
will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. 3 Great is the LORD
and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. 4 One generation will commend your works to
another; they will tell of your mighty acts. 5 They
will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty, and I will meditate on
your wonderful works. 6 They will
tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds. 7 They will celebrate your abundant goodness and
joyfully sing of your righteousness. 8 The
LORD is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love. 9 The
LORD is good to all; he has
compassion on all he has made. 10 All
you have made will praise you, O LORD;
your saints will extol you. 11 They
will tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might, 12 so that all men may know of your
mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom. 13 Your kingdom is an everlasting
kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is faithful to all his promises and
loving toward all he has made. 14 The
LORD upholds all those who fall and
lifts up all who are bowed down. 15 The
eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time. 16 You open your hand and satisfy the
desires of every living thing. 17 The
LORD is righteous in all his ways and
loving toward all he has made. 18 The
LORD is near to all who call on
him, to all who call on him in truth. 19 He
fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. 20 The LORD
watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. 21 My mouth will speak in praise of the LORD. Let every creature praise his holy
name for ever and ever. Psalm 145:1-21 (NIV)
1 “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and
you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money
and without cost. 2 Why spend
money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen,
listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest
of fare.” Isaiah 55:1-2 (NIV)
28 “Come
to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from
me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is
light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
6 Blessed are those who hunger
and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:6 (NIV)
20 He seldom reflects on the days of his life,
because God keeps him occupied with gladness of heart. Ecclesiastes 5:20
(NIV)

“You know to what extent You have
already changed me, You who first healed me of the lust of vindicating myself,
so that You might forgive all my remaining iniquities, and heal my diseases,
and redeem my life from corruption, and crown me with loving-kindness and
tender mercies, and satisfy my desire with good things.” St.
Augustine BUTTER
“Do not give your
heart to that which does not satisfy your heart.” Abba
Poemen
“If
I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most
probable explanation is that I was made for another world.” C.S.
Lewis
“He who is a
believer in Jesus finds enough in his Lord to satisfy him now, and to content
him for evermore. The believer is not
the man whose days are weary for want of comfort, and whose nights are long
from absence of heart-cheering thought, for he finds in Christ such a spring of
joy, such a fountain of consolation, that he is content and happy. Put him in a dungeon and he will find good
company; place him in a barren wilderness, he will eat the bread of heaven;
drive him away from friendship, he will meet the ‘friend that sticketh closer
than a brother.’ Blast all his gourds,
and he will find shadow beneath the Rock of Ages; sap the foundation of his
earthly hopes, but his heart will still be fixed, trusting in the Lord. The heart is as insatiable as the grave till
Jesus enters it, and then it is a cup full to overflowing. There is such a fullness in Christ that He
alone is the believer’s all. The true
saint is so completely satisfied with the all-sufficiency of Jesus that he
thirsts no more – except it be for deeper draughts of the living fountain.” Charles H. Spurgeon
“Because I love you, I’m asking you to guard your heart from anyone or
anything that can steal you away from Me. Remember, My love, this world offers
a counterfeit Life that will never fulfill you. What I create for you will
satisfy your soul; what the enemy offers will satisfy your flesh for a while.
However, in the end the world’s way leads to destruction. If your heart wanders
and you are not equipped with My Word, you will be unable to discern the
difference between real faith and counterfeit religion.” Sheri Rose Shepherd
“All
work is sacred work for the child of the King.
There is to be no difference between the secular and the sacred. The believer brings the glory of God and the
sweet aroma of Jesus to every job – every encounter - working wholeheartedly as
unto the Lord – not for man - through the achieving power of the indwelling
Holy Spirit. All jobs from motherhood to
medical to janitorial to legal to businessman to student to server to whatever
– makes no difference the “what” rather the motivation behind why we do what we
do which is to bring God all glory. It
is His desire for us to work and take care of His world – just as He told Adam
before the fall – and bring the Good News to others in our spheres through both
our actions and words. This is for our
ultimate good btw, satisfying both heart and soul. We live our lives for an audience of One and
our goal is to hear a ‘well done good and faithful servant.’” BHY
“Father,
as we’re here today, please help us to rid our hearts and minds of the clutter
that is within them. Our thoughts are
clouded by worldly matters- things that don’t matter. Our hearts seek after things that don’t satisfy. We run after the perishable and fail to seek
the imperishable. Forgive us,
Father. May Your Spirit remind us of
Your Presence in all of our lives- all of the time. Guide us.
Let our thoughts and words and attitudes be pleasing to You. Let us imitate Christ. Give us His mind and His attitude. Strip us of our pride and self-sufficiency
and may we be humble as Jesus showed Humility. In the Name of Jesus, Who humbled Himself to
death, even death on the Cross, for us, we pray.” Roger Killian
·
Only
God truly satisfies the soul of the sojourner.
·
The perishable
is just that – perishable – satisfying momentarily. On the other hand, the imperishable is
eternal – satisfying both now and forever.
·
When
God fills, we overflow, having a superfluous - enabling us to share with others
from our overflowing cups - we have something beneficial to give that is lasting
and abundantly good. When we seek to be
satisfied with the world we ourselves will come up wanting not to mention
having nothing to hold out to others.
