BE
INCARNATIONS OF HIS TRUTH
BREAD
5 This
is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him
there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in
the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light,
as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of
Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1:5-7 (NIV)
3 We
know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. 4 The man who says, “I know him,”
but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But if anyone obeys his word,
God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: 6 Whoever claims to live in him
must walk as Jesus did. 1 John 2:3-6
(NIV)
4 It has
given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as
the Father commanded us. 5 And
now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the
beginning. I ask that we love one another. 6 And this is love: that we walk
in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command
is that you walk in love. 2 John 1:4-6
(NIV)
1 As a
prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling
you have received. 2 Be
completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the
unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:1-3 (NIV)
27 Whatever
happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then,
whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know
that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the
gospel 28 without
being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them
that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved--and that by God. Philippians 1:27-28 (NIV)
9 For
this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for
you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all
spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10 And we pray this in order that you may live a life
worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good
work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his
glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully 12 giving thanks to the Father,
who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom
of light. 13 For he
has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of
the Son he loves, 14 in
whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:9-14 (NIV)
15 Be
very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every
opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the
Lord's will is. Ephesians 5:15-17 (NIV)
23 Search
me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 See if there is any offensive
way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalms 139:23-24 (NIV)

“There must be a practical outworking of our
faith here in this present world, or it will never endure in the world to
come. We need fewer words and more charitable works; less palaver and
more pity; less repetition of creed and more compassion.” Billy Graham
“Our
task as laymen is to live our personal communion with Christ with such
intensity as to make it contagious.”
Paul Tournier
“The Holy Spirit
cannot be located as a guest in a house.
He invades everything.” Oswald

“I'd rather see a
sermon than hear one any day; I'd rather one should walk with me than merely
tell the way. The eye's a better pupil and more willing than the ear, Fine counsel
is confusing, but example's always clear; And the best of all preachers are
the men who live their creeds, For to see good put in action is what
everybody needs. I soon can learn to
do it if you'll let me see it done; I can watch your hands in action, but
your tongue too fast may run. And the
lecture you deliver may be very wise and true, But I'd rather get my lessons by
observing what you do; For I might misunderstand you and the high advice you
give, But there's no misunderstanding how you act and how you live.” Edgar

“You have a message, and you are constantly delivering it. You may not even know what it is. It may be a message of redemption or of guilt, of confidence or of insecurity, of faith or of doubt. But one way or another, your life is an embodied message of whatever you believe to be true. That’s frightening, isn’t it? We can handle the thought of delivering a message when God tells us to, the thought that we are always implicitly living a message means we may have preached against the gospel many, many times. Every time we sowed seeds of discord, every time we got comfortable with sin, every time we said something that minimized God’s goodness or exaggerated our own, we gave a false message. We might think we’ve never presumed to speak for God, but as creatures made in His image, we have. We may have spoken truth, or we may have spoken lies, but we have spoken. Wearing the name of ‘Christian,’ we have made some kind of impression – either positive or negative, or a combination of both – on this world.” Chris Tiegreen

sensitivity to trivia and his insensitivity to matters of major importance,
reveal he has a strange disorder.” Blaise

are the Bibles the world is reading.” Billy Graham
“The true secret to all ministry is
spiritual power. It is not man’s genius, or man’s intellect, or man’s energy;
but simply the power of the Spirit of the God of the Gospel. ‘Not by might nor
by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts (Zech.iv.6) It is well for all ministers (and believers)
to bear this ever in mind. It will sustain the heart and give constant
freshness to their ministry (and lives).
A ministry which flows from abiding dependence upon the Holy Spirit can
never become barren. If a man is drawing on his own resources, he will soon run
dry. It matters not what his powers may be, or how extensive his reading, or
how vast his stores of information; if the Holy Spirit be not the spring and
power of his ministry, it must, sooner or later, lose its freshness and its
effectiveness. How important then, that all who minister (and live) in the
gospel…should lean continually and exclusively on the power of the Holy Spirit.
He knows what souls need, and He can supply it. But he must be trusted and
used. It will not do to lean partly on self and partly on the Spirit.” C H

- · As a Christian, my life is to reflect Christ.
- · It matters how I live. My life is an embodied message of what I believe to be true.
