PRICELESS
WISDOM
BREAD
1 Does
not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? 2 On the heights along the way, where the paths meet, she
takes her stand; 3 beside
the gates leading into the city, at the entrances, she cries aloud: 4 “To you, O men, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind.
5 You
who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, gain understanding. 6 Listen, for I have worthy things to say; I open my lips to
speak what is right. 7 My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness.
8 All
the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse. 9 To the discerning all of them are right; they are faultless
to those who have knowledge. 10 Choose
my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold, 11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you
desire can compare with her.” 12 “I,
wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion. 13 To
fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and
perverse speech. 14 Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have
understanding and power. 15 By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just; 16 by
me princes govern, and all nobles who rule on earth. 17 I
love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. 18 With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and
prosperity. 19 My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield
surpasses choice silver. 20 I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of
justice, 21 bestowing wealth on those who love me and making their
treasuries full.” Proverbs 8:1-21 (NIV)
8 Do
not rebuke a mocker or he will hate you; rebuke a wise man and he will love
you. 9 Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach
a righteous man and he will add to his learning. Proverbs 9:8-9 (NIV)
10 “The
fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is
understanding. 11 For through me your days will be many, and years will
be added to your life. 12 If
you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will
suffer.” Proverbs 9:10-12 (NIV)
2 When
pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. Proverbs 11:2
(NIV)
8 A
man is praised according to his wisdom, but men with warped minds are despised.
Proverbs 12:8 (NIV)
1 A
wise son heeds his father’s instruction, but a mocker does not listen to
rebuke. Proverbs 13:1 (NIV)
20 He
who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm. Proverbs 13:20 (NIV)
1 The
wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers
down. Proverbs 14:1 (NIV)
16 A
wise man fears the LORD and shuns evil, but a fool is hotheaded and reckless. Proverbs 14:16 (NIV)
2 The
tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly. Proverbs 15:2 (NIV)
7 The
lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the hearts of fools. Proverbs 15:7 (NIV)
33 The
fear of the LORD teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honor. Proverbs 15:33 (NIV)
16 How
much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than
silver! Proverbs 16:16 (NIV)
8 He
who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who cherishes understanding prospers.
Proverbs 19:8 (NIV)
5 If
any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without
finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6 But
when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a
wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That
man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he
is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. James 1:5-8 (NIV)

“His wisdom’s
vast, and knows no bounds, a deep where all our thoughts are drowned.” Isaac Watts
“God alone knows
the depth and riches of His Godhead, and divine wisdom alone can declare His
secrets.” Thomas
Aquinas
“Most of us go through life praying a
little, planning a little, jockeying for position, hoping but never being quite
certain of anything, and always secretly afraid that we will miss the way. There is a better way. It is to repudiate our own and take instead
the infinite wisdom of God…..God has charged Himself with full responsibility
for our eternal happiness and stands ready to take over the management of our
lives the moment we turn in faith to Him.”
A. W. Tozer
“The doorstep to
the temple of wisdom is a knowledge of our own ignorance.” Charles H. Spurgeon
“Common sense
suits itself to the ways of the world.
Wisdom tries to conform to the ways of heaven.” Joseph Joubert
“God hath in Himself all power to defend you, all wisdom to
direct you, all mercy to pardon you, all grace to enrich you, all righteousness
to clothe you, all goodness to supply you, and all happiness to crown you.” Thomas Brooks
“But when the psalmist said, ‘All my springs are in
you,’ he meant that all his innermost resources were found in His ever-flowing
and overflowing Lord – all his courage, all his joy, all his resilience, all
his optimism, all his hope, all his love, all his wisdom, all his
patience. The Lord Jesus is the source
of that which refreshes our personalities and of all that makes our
personalities refreshing.” Robert J.
Morgan
“Whatever
one’s place in life, whatever age or influence, all Christians are filled with
the Holy Spirit’s power, endowed with the Father’s wisdom through Scripture,
and energized by the love of Jesus. As such, all Christians are called as
Christ’s ambassadors into the places where they live, work, play, and worship,
with the glorious purpose of leaving it better than they found it. This is, we might
say, the universal Christian job description.” Scott
Sauls
“The wisdom, the power, the love, the
promise, the covenant, and the oath of Jehovah, stand all engaged for the preservation of a poor, unworthy believer in
Jesus. Alleluia.” K. H. Von Bogatzky
