WE
ALL NEED SAVING
BREAD
23 For
all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 (NIV)
10 As
it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; 11 there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. 12 All have turned away, they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good, not even one.” Romans
3:10-12 (NIV)
6 All
of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like
filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us
away. 7 No one calls on your name or strives to lay hold of
you; for you have hidden your face from us and made us waste away because of
our sins. Isaiah 64:6-7 (NIV)
22 “Although
you wash yourself with soda and use an abundance of soap, the stain of your
guilt is still before me,” declares the Sovereign LORD. Jeremiah 2:22 (NIV)
6 We
all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and
the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6 (NIV)
21 What
benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those
things result in death! 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have
become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is
eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is
eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans
6:20-23 (NIV)
6 You
see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the
ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man,
though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But
God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners,
Christ died for us. Romans 5:6-8 (NIV)
3 He
was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with
suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we
esteemed him not. 4 Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our
sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. 5 But
he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the
punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are
healed. Isaiah 53:3-5 (NIV)
16 So
from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once
regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore,
if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has
come! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself
through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that
God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins
against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We
are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal
through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God
made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the
righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians
5:16-21 (NIV)

“Man needs, above all else, salvation.” Norman
Goodacre
“There can be no agreement as to what salvation is unless there is agreement as
to that from which salvation rescues us. It is impossible to gain a deep grasp
of what the cross achieves without plunging into a deep grasp of what sin is.”
D. A. Carson
“Shallow thoughts of sin lead to shallow thoughts of God and
salvation. Ignorance to the depths of our sin leads to ignorance to the depths
of the beauty of Jesus Christ. All sons
and daughters of Adam are by nature children
of wrath, sons of disobedience, and willing slaves of the one to whom our
father fell: Satan (Ephesians 2:1-3). In
our father Adam, ‘None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one
seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no
one does good, not even one.’ (Romans 3:10-12). Our hearts are deceitful above
all things and desperately sick (Jeremiah 17:9). We are born in sin (Psalms
51:4).’ The tree of our race is poisoned at the root. Greg Morse
“There
are such difficulties in the way of our salvation as could never be overcome
but by that grace of God which is almighty.
‘What is impossible with men is possible with God.’ His grace can work on the soul, so as to
alter the bent and bias of it, and give it a contrary leaning.” Matthew
Henry
“If there be
ground for you to trust your own righteousness, then all that Christ did to
purchase salvation….is vain.” Jonathan
Edwards
“The grace of God does not find men fit for salvation, but makes
them so.” Augustine
“Holiness is the
visible side of salvation.” Charles
Spurgeon
“Is
it not wonderful news to believe that salvation lies outside ourselves?” Martin
Luther
HEART SAVOR
·
God demonstrated His love for us in that while we were still
a hot mess, wallowing in the pig pen of sin, Christ died for us. Without the shedding of blood there is no
forgiveness of sins.
·
We all need saving and praise Jesus we have a Savior.
·
Salvation is
found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by
which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 (NIV)
