THE
SATISFIED SOUL
BREAD
1 Praise the LORD,
O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2 Praise the LORD,
O my soul, and forget not all his benefits--3 who
forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit and
crowns you with love and compassion, 5 who
satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the
eagle’s. Psalm 103:1-5 (NIV)
14 The LORD
upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. 15 The eyes of all look to you, and you give
them their food at the proper time. 16 You
open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing. 17 The LORD
is righteous in all his ways and loving toward all he has made. Psalm 145:14-17 (NIV)
14 O LORD, by your
hand save me from such men, from men of this world whose reward is in this
life. You still the hunger of those you cherish; their sons have plenty, and
they store up wealth for their children. 15 And
I--in righteousness I will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied
with seeing your likeness. Psalm 17:14-15 (NIV)
2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and
your glory. 3 Because your love is
better than life, my lips will glorify you. 4 I
will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. 5 My soul will be satisfied as with the
richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. 6 On my bed I remember you; I think of you
through the watches of the night. 7 Because
you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. 8 My soul clings to you; your right hand
upholds me. Psalm 63:2-8 (NIV)
38 Egypt was glad when they left, because dread of Israel
had fallen on them. 39 He
spread out a cloud as a covering, and a fire to give light at night. 40 They asked, and he brought them quail
and satisfied them with the bread of heaven. 41 He
opened the rock, and water gushed out; like a river it flowed in the desert. 42 For he remembered his holy promise
given to his servant Abraham. 43 He
brought out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy. Psalm 105:38-43 (NIV)
12 Extol
the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise your
God, O Zion, 13 for he strengthens
the bars of your gates and blesses your people within you. 14 He grants peace to your borders and
satisfies you with the finest of wheat. Psalm 147:12-14 (NIV)
1 “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters;
and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without
money and without cost. 2 Why
spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the
richest of fare.” Isaiah 55:1-2 (NIV)
23 The fear of the LORD
leads to life: Then one rests content, untouched by trouble. Proverbs 19:23
(NIV)
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your
life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is
not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away
in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more
valuable than they? 27 Who
of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? 28 And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field
grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet
I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of
these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field,
which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more
clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 So
do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat? or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What
shall we wear?’ 32
For the pagans run after
all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these
things will be given to you as well.” Matthew
6:25-33 (NIV)

“They who desire Me, I will surely reward: I will not fail. I will fill every longing heart and satisfy

“God is not just the appropriate object of
the verbs believe, trust, fear, obey, and worship, but also he is the most
fitting, most satisfying, most worthy object of the verb enjoy. Do you enjoy him? Not with the small
enjoyment of chuckling at a clever commercial, but the large enjoyment of
basking before an ocean. Not the thin enjoyment of humming along with a pop
song, but the thick enjoyment of a great novel’s or symphony’s long-anticipated
pinnacle. Not the shallow enjoyment of acquiring some new trinket, but the deep
enjoyment of reconnecting with a longtime friend.” David
Mathis
“Because I love you, I’m asking you to guard your
heart from anyone or anything that can steal you away from Me. Remember, My
love, this world offers a counterfeit Life that will never fulfill you. What I
create for you will satisfy your soul; what the enemy offers will satisfy your
flesh for a while. However, in the end the world’s way leads to destruction. If
your heart wanders and you are not equipped with My Word, you will be unable to
discern the difference between real faith and counterfeit religion.” Sheri Rose Shepherd
