TRUST
HIM
BREAD
5 Trust
in the LORD with all your heart and
lean not on your own understanding; 6 in
all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes. Proverbs
3:5-7 (NIV)
3 Trust in the LORD
and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. 4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of
your heart. 5 Commit your way
to the LORD; trust in him and he
will do this: 6 He will make
your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the
noonday sun. 7 Be still before
the LORD and wait patiently for
him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their
wicked schemes. 8 Refrain from
anger and turn from wrath; do not fret--it leads only to evil… 18 The days of the blameless are known to the LORD, and their inheritance will endure
forever. 19 In times of disaster
they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty… 39 The salvation of the righteous comes from
the LORD; he is their stronghold
in time of trouble. 40 The LORD helps them and delivers them; he
delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him. Psalm 37:3-8, 18-19, 39-40 (NIV)
29 Then I said to you, “Do not be terrified; do not be afraid
of them. 30 The LORD your God, who is going before you,
will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, 31 and in the desert. There you saw how the LORD your God carried you, as a father
carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.” 32 In spite of this, you did not trust in the LORD your God, 33 who went ahead of you on your journey, in
fire by night and in a cloud by day, to search out places for you to camp and
to show you the way you should go. Deuteronomy 1:29-33 (NIV)
9 The LORD is a
refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. 10 Those who know your name will trust in
you, for you, LORD, have never
forsaken those who seek you.
Psalm 9:9-10 (NIV)
Psalm 9:9-10 (NIV)
5 But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in
your salvation. 6 I will sing to
the LORD, for he has been good to
me. Psalm 13:5-6 (NIV)
7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we
trust in the name of the LORD our
God. 8 They are brought to
their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm. Psalm
20:7-8 (NIV)
4 Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who
turn aside to false gods. 5 Many,
O LORD my God, are the wonders you
have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to
speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare. Psalm 40:4-5 (NIV)
22 Cast your cares on the LORD
and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
23 But you, O God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of corruption; bloodthirsty and deceitful men will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in you. Psalm 55:22-23 (NIV)
23 But you, O God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of corruption; bloodthirsty and deceitful men will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in you. Psalm 55:22-23 (NIV)
4 In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?... 10 In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise-- 11 in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? Psalm 56:4, 10-11 (NIV)
8 Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to
him, for God is our refuge. Selah Psalm
62:8 (NIV)
9 O house of Israel, trust in the LORD-- he is their help and shield. 10 O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD-- he is their help and shield. 11 You who fear him, trust in the LORD-- he is their help and shield. 12 The LORD
remembers us and will bless us: He will bless the house of Israel, he will
bless the house of Aaron, 13 he
will bless those who fear the LORD--
small and great alike. Psalm
115:9-13 (NIV)
9 In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.” Isaiah 25:9 (NIV)
13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as
you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy
Spirit. Romans 15:13 (NIV)

“He that takes truth for his
guide, and duty for his end, may safely trust to God’s providence to lead him
aright.” Blaise Pascal
“Never
be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.” Corrie

“It
is not our trust that keeps us, but the God in whom we trust who keeps us.” Oswald
Chambers
“Lord,
guide me in this Christian race, and keep my mind intent on thee; rejoicing
when I see thy face, and trusting when I cannot see.” K. H. Bogatzky
“Worry
is a form of atheism, for it betrays a lack of faith and trust in God.” Bishop
Fulton J. Sheen
“Life holds for all of us,
from time to time, desolate places. All that was ordinary and secure and
familiar and dependable seems a thousand
miles away. Here we are in this strange wilderness- out of work, ill, robbed of
something or someone, banished from a privilege that once was ours, no longer
needed, confused, forsaken. It is a place of dryness, loneliness, isolation,
helplessness, fear. We feel as though we are walking where no human being was
ever meant to walk, a place of dragons.
Don't despair. Even though you find no signs, be sure that thousands have
traversed this terrain. When you reach the far side you will meet them. But
there is something that is far more comforting than that. You are not alone now. Always beside you is Another whose voice you may not hear, whose arm
you may not feel, whose footprint you may not see. Nevertheless His Word is
utterly to be trusted: ‘I cared for you in the wilderness.’” (Hosea 13:5) Elisabeth
Elliot
“God is to be
trusted when His providences seem to run contrary to His promises.” Thomas
Watson
“If
the basis of peace is God, the secret of peace is trust.” J. N. Figgis
“On Him then reckon, to Him look, on Him
depend: and be assured that if you walk
with Him, look to Him and expect help from Him, He will never fail you. An older brother, who has known the Lord for
forty-four years, who writes this, says for your encouragement that He has
never failed him. In the greatest
difficulties, in the heaviest trials, in the deepest poverty and necessities,
He has never failed me; but because I was enabled by His grace to trust in Him,
He has always appeared for my help. I
delight in speaking well of His Name.” George Mueller
“You cannot imagine how great is people’s foolishness…..by
hoping in themselves and putting trust in their own knowledge.” St. Catherine
“God wants
us to trust Him, no matter what He does.
There is a heavenly carelessness that leaves it all with Jesus and
doesn’t become upset when He does things contrary to what we expected.” Vance Havner
“Faith is a living, bold trust
in God’s grace, so certain of God’s favor that it would risk death….trusting in
it.” Martin Luther
“Quit sweating, quit wrestling. It is not try but trust.” John G. Lake
“We
should follow Christ in simplicity and faith, because the paths in which He
leads us all end in glory and immortality.
It is true they may not be smooth paths – they may be covered with sharp
flinty trials, but they lead to the ‘city with foundations, whose architect and
builder is God.’ ‘All the ways of the
Lord are loving and faithful for those who keep the demands of His
covenant.’ Let’s put full trust in our
Leader, since we know that, come prosperity or adversity, sickness or health,
popularity or contempt, His purpose shall be worked out, and that purpose shall
be pure, unmingled good to every heir of mercy…..His dear love will make us far
more blessed than those who sit at home and warm their hands at the world’s
fire.” Charles H. Spurgeon
HEART
SAVOR
- · God desires for His children to trust Him – solely - even
when we cannot see. The Hebrew word for
trust – “Batah” – means: “To attach oneself, confide in, feel safe, be
confident, secure. The basic idea
signifies firmness or solidity. Denotes
a confident expectation. The folly of
relying upon any other type of security is strongly contrasted with depending
upon God alone.” (Old Testament Lexical
Aids).
- · God is most glorified when we are most satisfied with Him (John
Piper).
- · All God’s ways are loving even if we cannot readily discern
that with our eyes of flesh. None of us
can see the entire picture yet God makes known from the beginning from ancient
times what is yet to come. His purposes
will stand and He will do all that He pleases.
He is a good and loving and faithful God Who only allows what is best
for every heir of mercy. We can trust
Him with our lives.
