AN OVERFLOWING HEART
BREAD
16 Be
joyful always; 17 pray
continually; 18 give thanks in
all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1
Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)
15 The
cheerful heart has a continual feast. Proverbs 15:15 (NIV)
6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue
to live in him, 7 rooted and built
up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with
thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV)
1 Shout for joy to the LORD,
all the earth. 2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with
joyful songs. 3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and
we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his
courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the LORD
is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all
generations. Psalm 100:1-5 (NIV)
1 Praise the LORD,
O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2 Praise the LORD,
O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-- 3 who
forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit and
crowns you with love and compassion, 5 who
satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the
eagle’s. Psalm 103:1-5 (NIV)
25 For great is the LORD
and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. 26 For all the gods of the nations are idols, but
the LORD made the heavens. 27 Splendor and majesty are before him; strength
and joy in his dwelling place.
1 Chronicles 16:25-27 (NIV)
16 You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living
thing. 17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways and
loving toward all he has made. 18 The
LORD is near to all who call on
him, to all who call on him in truth. 19 He
fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. Psalm
145:16-19 (NIV)
14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in
triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance
of the knowledge of him. 2 Corinthians 2:14 (NIV)
1 The LORD is my
shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2 He
makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths
of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Even
though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for
you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You
prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head
with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely
goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in
the house of the LORD forever. Psalm
23:1-6 (NIV)
BUTTER
“But when the psalmist said, ‘All my springs are in you,’ he meant that all his innermost resources were found in His ever-flowing and overflowing Lord – all his courage, all his joy, all his resilience, all his optimism, all his hope, all his love, all his wisdom, all his patience. The Lord Jesus is the source of that which refreshes our personalities and of all that makes our personalities refreshing.” Robert J. Morgan
“Our words have the power to speak life or death over someone. Watch the face of the hearer. Think before we speak. Store up in our hearts His truth before we spout out from our lips our opinions. Out of the overflow of the heart the mouth will speak. Be the conduit that life flows freely through to others. We will then leave the aroma of Christ in our circumstances not the stench of death.” BHY
“Divine
omniscience provides no comfort to the ungodly mind, but to the child of God it
overflows with consolation. God is always thinking about us, never turns His
mind from us, always has us before His eyes; and this is precisely how we would
want it, because it would be dreadful to exist for a moment outside the
observation of our heavenly Father. His thoughts are always tender, loving,
wise, prudent, far-reaching, and they bring countless benefits to us: It is
consequently a supreme delight to remember them.” C. H. Spurgeon revised by Alistair Begg
“Abundance is not to something be attained — abundance
is something to awaken to. It is not
what we get, but what we give thanks for, that gives us the abundant life. Overflow with gratitude and it will quench
every inch of your life.” Ann Voskamp
“In Hebrew, the word for ‘peace’ is shalom—a far
more meaningful word. Shalom means complete well-being—not just a
feeling of mental or emotional clarity. It means being complete, being whole,
and lacking nothing. It settles unrest; it fills the empty. Wherever Jesus went
on earth, He brought wholeness. The blind saw. The sick were healed. The storms
were calmed. The sinful repented.” Michael
Youssef
“It’s okay to feel on the outside — you have One who is passionate
about you on the inside, who wants to be with you so desperately, He moves into
you, gets into your skin, so you’re never alone, dwells in you, moves into your
empty places, your rejected places, your abandoned places and fills you with
chosenness and wholeness and with-ness — because He knows the fulfilled life is
an inside job.” Ann Voskamp
“Just
as water ever seeks and fills the lowest place, so the moment God finds you
abased and empty, His glory and power flow in.” Andrew Murray
“If you are
thirsty in this life you have gone to the wrong well.” BHY
