THE
FULLNESS OF GRACE
BREAD
4 But because of his
great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made
us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace
you have been saved. 6 And God
raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in
Christ Jesus,
7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:4-10 (NIV)

19 For God was
pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and
through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or
things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Colossians
1:19-20 (NIV)
1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by
faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the
glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our
sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and
character, hope. 5 And hope
does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by
the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. 6 You see, at just the right
time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die
for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for
us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans
5:1-8 (NIV)
9 For in Christ all
the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and
you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and
authority. Colossians 2:9-10 (NIV)
16 From
the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. 17 For
the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but God the One
and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known. John
1:16-18 (NIV)
9 But
he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my
power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more
gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight
in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For
when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NIV)
1 As God's fellow workers we urge you not to receive
God's grace in vain. 2 For he
says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I
helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of
salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:1-2 (NIV)
8 “Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace
that could be theirs.” Jonah
2:8 (NIV)

“Because
of the fullness of His grace... one
blessing after another (charin
anti charitos, literally, ‘grace in place of grace’) comes to Christians
as waves continue to come to the shore. The Christian life is the constant
reception of one evidence of God's grace replacing another.” The Bible Knowledge Commentary: An
Exposition of the Scriptures by Dallas Seminary Faculty.
“His grace is
sufficient to meet every need. He is not
a grace waster. We don’t have the grace
if we don’t have the need.” BHY
“There are such difficulties in the way of our salvation as
could never be overcome but by that grace of God which is almighty. ‘What is impossible with men is possible with
God.’ His grace can work on the soul, so as to
alter the bent and bias of it, and give it a contrary leaning.” Matthew
Henry
“When a believer
has fallen into a low, sad state of feeling, he often tries to lift himself out
of it by chastening himself with dark and doleful fears. Such is not the way to
rise from the dust, but to continue in it. It is not the law, but the gospel
which saves the seeking soul at first; and it is not a legal bondage, but
gospel liberty which can restore the fainting believer afterwards. Slavish fear
brings not back the backslider to God, but the sweet wooings of love allure him
to Jesus' bosom…Whatever good quality there is in divine grace, you shall enjoy
it to the full. All the riches of divine grace you shall receive in plenty; you
shall be as it were drenched with it: and as sometimes the meadows become
flooded by the bursting rivers, and the fields are turned into pools, so shall
you be--the thirsty land shall be springs of water.” Charles
Spurgeon
