LIVE
ABOVE REPROACH
BREAD
15 Be
very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days
are evil. 17 Therefore
do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. Ephesians 5:15-17 (NIV)
19 The
acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and
debauchery; 20 idolatry
and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition,
dissensions, factions 21 and
envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that
those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But
the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, 23 gentleness
and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the
sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with
the Spirit. Galatians 5:19-25 (NIV)
9 For
this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for
you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all
spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10 And we
pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please
him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of
God, 11 being
strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may
have great endurance and patience, and joyfully 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to
share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness
and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of
sins. Colossians 1:9-14 (NIV)
5 Put to
death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality,
impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once
lived. 8 But
now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice,
slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off
your old self with its practices 10 and
have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of
its Creator. 11 Here
there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian,
slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. 12 Therefore,
as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with
compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:5-12 (NIV)
27 Whatever
happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Philippians 1:27 (NIV)
5 This
is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him
there is no darkness at all. 6 If we
claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not
live by the truth. 7 But if
we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one
another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves
and the truth is not in us. 9 If we
confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and
purify us from all unrighteousness. 1
John 1:5-9 (NIV)
16 This
is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient
paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for
your souls.” Jeremiah 6:16 (NIV)
13 Therefore,
prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the
grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. 14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil
desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in
all you do; 16 for it
is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
1 Peter 1:13-16 (NIV)
12 Now we
ask you, brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you
in the Lord and who admonish you. 13 Hold
them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with
each other. 14 And we
urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the
weak, be patient with everyone. 15 Make
sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each
other and to everyone else. 16 Be
joyful always; 17 pray
continually; 18 give
thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 19 Do not put out the Spirit's fire; 20 do not treat prophecies with contempt. 21 Test everything. Hold on to the good. 22 Avoid every kind of evil. 23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you
through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at
the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The
one who calls you is faithful and he will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:12-24 (NIV)

“Hast thou, O my soul, felt the weight of thy
own guilt and misery, and been enabled, in reality and truth, to lay hold by
faith of the blood of Christ for thy redemption, and faithfully to devote
thyself to him in heart and life? Then
hast thou a sure foundation to go upon:
let it be thy constant care firmly to depend upon these and such like
blessed declarations; for every blessing thou standest in need of. Has Christ brought life and immortality to
light? Then look unto him and live. Is there redemption through his blood, even
the forgiveness of sins? Then throw all
thy guilt upon his atonement. Has he
blotted out the hand-writing of ordinances that was against thee? Then shake off self-righteous dependences, and
legal fears also. Did he die for thy
sins? Then let his goodness and love
lead thee to unfeigned repentance; let the sense of thy sins break thine heart,
but encourage thy hope in the gospel.” K.H.

“The weapon of
repentance, through rejection of false beliefs and affirmation of godly truth,
has changed thousands of lives. Repentance
can liberate the mind and destroy speculations and every lofty thing raised up
against the knowledge of God (2 Cor. 10:5) And it can help us discover the
wondrous significance we have in Jesus Christ: We are deeply loved, completely
forgiven, fully pleasing, totally acceptable, and complete in Him. Our journey is a joyous and challenging
adventure with Christ.” Robert
McGee

living for Jesus. Be committed.” Anne

“A special faith in our Lord Jesus
Christ’s person, work and office is the life, heart and mainspring of the
Christian character. He sees by faith
and unseen Saviour, who loved him, gave Himself for him, paid his debts for
him, bore his sins, carried his transgressions, rose again for him, and appears
in heaven for him as his Advocate at the right hand of God. He sees Jesus and clings to Him…. He sees his
own many sins, his weak heart, a tempting world, a busy devil; and if he looked
only at them, he might well despair. But
he sees also a mighty Saviour, an interceding Saviour, a sympathizing
Saviour—His blood…. His righteousness, His everlasting priesthood—and he
believes that all this is his own. He
sees Jesus and casts his whole weight on Him.
Seeing Him, he cheerfully fights on, with a full confidence that he will
prove more than conqueror through Him that loved him…Habitual lively faith in
Christ’s presence and readiness to help is the secret of the Christian fighting
successfully.” J C Ryle, Holiness

“Pray for a strong
and lively sense of sin. The greater the

“I became a
Christian once for all upon the basis of the finished work of Christ through
faith; that is justification. The
Christian life, sanctification, operates on the same basis, but moment by moment. There is the same base (Christ’s work) and
the same instrument (faith); the only difference is that one is once for all
and the other is moment by moment…If we try to live the Christian life in our
own strength we will have sorrow, but if we live in this way, we will not only
serve the Lord, but in place of sorrow, He will be our song. That is the difference. The ‘how’ of the Christian life is the power
of the crucified and risen Lord, through the agency of the indwelling Holy
Spirit, by faith moment by moment.” Francis
Schaeffer
