The Selfless Nature Of Biblical Love 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Romans 13:8-10 1 Peter 4:7-10 Romans 12:9-10 1 John 2:5-6 John 15:9-14 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 John 3:18 06.30.17

THE SELFLESS NATURE OF BIBLICAL LOVE
BREAD

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails.   1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV)

8 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. 9 The commandments, “Do not commit adultery,” “Do not murder,” “Do not steal,” “Do not covet,” and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.   Romans 13:8-10 (NIV)

7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. 8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.  1 Peter 4:7-10 (NIV)

9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.   Romans 12:9-10 (NIV)

5 But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: 6 Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.   1 John 2:5-6 (NIV)

9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command.”   John 15:9-14 (NIV)

14 For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.   2 Corinthians 5:14-15 (NIV)

18 Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.   1 John 3:18 (NIV)

“A Christian's unselfish love and concern for others should be exercised to the point of sacrificially giving for others’ welfare.”   Bible Knowledge Commentary

“There is something contagious about a heart of love. People who are selfless with their love can make giant waves in this world where those who cling to selfish desires cause only ripples. In fact, those who have hearts of love view the people around them as being most important. A heart that bears the marks of God's intimate love is not a selfish heart. When we look directly into God's heart of love, we are transformed forever. The selfish desires that once dominated our heart's landscapes vanish in an instant, replaced by a desire to lavish love on others. As God begins to transform our hearts through His grace and kindness, we become vessels willing to reciprocate this type of love. Something happens inside of us. We begin to realize the twofold effect of loving God and loving others - not just friends and family, but others who cross our paths every day. Hardened hearts begin to melt beneath the warmth of Christ's love overflowing from our lives. People who we never thought would let the name of Jesus roll off their lips suddenly praise Him because we have taken the time to love them the way God has commanded us to love. Once we learn how to abide in His love, our feelings of jealousy, greed, and anger die a quick death. A true champion extends grace and kindness because he knows the transformation that has taken place in his own heart, and he realizes those who receive God's love and grace have no other course of action but to give God's love away.”   Michael Youssef

“Truth and love are the characteristics which build up the church, especially in association with each other. Yet this combination is rare in the contemporary church. Some leaders are great champions of the truth and anxious to fight for it, but display little love. Others are great advocates of love, but have no equal commitment to truth...Truth is hard if it is not softened by love and love is soft if it is not strengthened by the truth.”   John Stott

“You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving.”  Amy Carmichael

“Love for God and obedience to God are so completely involved in each other that any one of them implies the other too.”   F. F. Bruce

“He who is filled with love is filled with God Himself.”   Augustine

“We are shaped and fashioned by what we love.”   Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Love Him totally who gave Himself totally for your love.”  Claire of Assisi

“The principle of sacrifice is that we choose to do or to suffer what apart from our love we should not choose to do or suffer.”   William Temple

“He alone loves the Creator perfectly who manifests a pure love for his neighbor.”   Venerable Bede

“In the greatest display of obedience (and love) that will ever be known, Jesus took the full chalice of Man’s sin and God’s wrath, looked shuddering, deep into its depth and in a steel act of his will, drank it all.”  Kent Hughes

·       A believer is to use whatever gifts they have received to administer God’s grace to others in its various forms.  The body suffers when we – out of selfishness or lack of love for the body - fail to do our gifting’s.
·       Biblical love is sincere and motivated out of love for the Lord and others.
·       Christ’s love compels me to no longer live for myself but for Him.

Keep Walking Rightly Hebrews 11:32-12:3 Philippians 1:27 Ephesians 4:1-3 Colossians 1:9-12 1 John 2:6 Jeremiah 30:21 06.28.17

KEEP WALKING RIGHTLY
BREAD

32 And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel and the prophets, 33 who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, 34 quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies. 35 Women received back their dead, raised to life again. Others were tortured and refused to be released, so that they might gain a better resurrection. 36 Some faced jeers and flogging, while still others were chained and put in prison. 37 They were stoned; they were sawed in two; they were put to death by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated-- 38 the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, and in caves and holes in the ground. 39 These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. 40 God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect. 1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 11:32-12:3(NIV)

27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.
Philippians 1:27 (NIV)

1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.   Ephesians 4:1-3 (NIV)

9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10 And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.  Colossians 1:9-12 (NIV)

6 Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.   1 John 2:6 (NIV)

“For who is he who will devote himself to be close to me?” declares the Lord.  Jeremiah 30:21 (NIV)

“There is to be communication of the Holy Spirit with the individual Christian in the present life, and in a sense the Holy Spirit’s communication carries with it the entire Trinity. In a sense the Spirit is the Trinity’s agent in communicating with us humans. If I am going to walk in this present life according to my high calling as a Christian, I need a strength higher than my own strength. I need the power of Christ. How is this power of Christ to be mine? It’s not enough just to imagine that I have this power. It’s not even enough to take the second step and reckon myself dead to sin and alive to Christ. There must also be a communication of the power of Christ to me through the agency of the Holy Spirit who indwells me.” Francis Schaeffer

“Considering Mary, how did she “walk by the Spirit” and glorify Christ when God gave her an impossible circumstance?  She believed God for the impossible---“How will this be, for I am a virgin?” And she lived a life of repentance—“I am the Lord’s servant, may it be to me as you have said” What does a life of repentance look like?  It is a daily recognition that you are not your own, for you have been bought with a price.   What is your life response to the impossible issues you are facing?    How must you walk by the Spirit, in the way of repentance and faith, like Mary?  I must believe God that I am an adopted son or daughter.  That I am loved unconditionally; that I am forgiven and really free from sin in my life. I must believe I have the Holy Spirit’s seal of approval…I must believe God can and will do miraculous things in my life….in the lives of others around me…. “I must stop living life by and for myself… I must repent of my self saving ways….My idols of comfort, security and approval.  And I can because Jesus has already done all for me.  Not just some of what I need, but all of what I needed and need, on the cross and He continues to do, by the active Presence and Power of His Holy Spirit.”  Tom Wood

“On Him then reckon, to Him look, on Him depend:  and be assured that if you walk with Him, look to Him and expect help from Him, He will never fail you.  An older brother, who has known the Lord for forty-four years, who writes this, says for your encouragement that He has never failed him.  In the greatest difficulties, in the heaviest trials, in the deepest poverty and necessities, He has never failed me; but because I was enabled by His grace to trust in Him, He has always appeared for my help.  I delight in speaking well of His Name.”   George Mueller

“Let us see that we keep God before our eyes; that we walk in His ways and seek to please and glorify Him in everything, great and small.  Depend upon it, God’s work, done in God’s way, will never lack God’s supplies.”   Hudson Taylor

“Be simple; take our Lord’s hand and walk through things.”   Brother Andrew

“In our walk with God we are told explicitly by Christ Himself that it would be His Spirit who would be sent to guide us and to lead us into all truth (John 16:13).  This same gracious Spirit takes the truth of God, the Word of God, and makes it plain to our hearts and minds and spiritual understanding.  It is He who gently, tenderly, but persistently says to us, ‘This is the way – walk in it.’  And as we comply and cooperate with His gentle promptings a sense of safety, comfort and well-being envelops us.”   Phillip Keller

“Take courage.  We walk in the wilderness today and in the Promised Land tomorrow.”   D.L. Moody

·       The Lord will guide me always through His Spirit which indwells me.  His eye is on me, His Spirit is in me, His protection is over me, His wisdom is guiding me, His love is motivating me, His comfort is encouraging me, His peace is permeating me, His sufficiency satisfies me, His power equips me, His promises excite me and His Word endears me.
·       I am to walk in a manner worthy of my high calling in Christ, always through His power for His glory and my good.
·       My desire is to stand firm in all His will, mature and fully assured.  That is the best place on earth for me to be despite circumstances that only appear detrimental to my fleshly eyes.

Center On His Plan Jeremiah 29:11-13 Ephesians 2:8-10 Titus 2:11-14 Titus 3:3-8 Ephesians 4:17-24 2 Corinthians 5:17 06.26.17

CENTER ON HIS PLAN
BREAD

11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.   Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NIV)

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:8-10 (NIV)

11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope--the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.  Titus 2:11-14 (NIV)

3 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.   Titus 3:3-8 (NIV)

17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more. 20 You, however, did not come to know Christ that way. 21 Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:17-24 (NIV)

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)

“A holy people was His purpose in paying such a fearful price. Therefore, knowing what all He has done and why He has done it, a Christian who truly loves Christ and looks forward to His return will pay any price to bring his life into conformity with his beloved Lord's will, lest he disappoint Him at His return. This was the Apostle John's thought when he wrote about the hope of Christ's appearing: ‘Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as He is pure’ (1 John 3:3).  A full understanding of these things leads inexorably to godly living.  Conversely, ungodly living in a Christian is a clear sign that either he does not fully understand these things or he does not actually believe them.”  Bible Knowledge Commentary

“Most of us go through life praying a little, planning a little, jockeying for position, hoping but never being quite certain of anything, and always secretly afraid that we will miss the way.  There is a better way.  It is to repudiate our own wisdom and take instead the infinite wisdom of God…..God has charged Himself with full responsibility for our eternal happiness and stands ready to take over the management of our lives the moment we turn in faith to Him.”   A. W. Tozer

“It is natural for us to wish and to plan, and it is merciful of the Lord to disappoint our plans and to cross our wishes.  For we cannot be safe or happy until we are weaned from our own wills and made simply desirous of being directed by His guidance.  Although we understand this we seldom learn to put it into practice without being trained for a while in the school of disappointment.  The schemes we form look so plausible and convenient that when they are broken we are ready to say, ‘What a pity!’  We try again, and with no better success; we are grieved, and perhaps angry, and plan another, and so on; eventually, in the course of time, experience and observation begin to convince us that we are no more able than we are worthy to choose correctly for ourselves.  The Lord’s invitation to cast our cares upon Him, and His promise to take care of us, appear valuable; and when we have done planning, His plan in our favor gradually opens, and He does more and better for us than we could either ask or think.  I can hardly recollect a single plan of mine, which if it had taken place in the time and the way I wanted would, humanly speaking, have proved my ruin; or at least would have deprived me of the greater good the Lord had designed for me.  We judge things by their present appearance; but the Lord sees them in their consequences.  If we could do the same we would be perfectly of His mind; but since we can’t, it is an unspeakable mercy that He will manage for us, whether we are pleased with His management or not; and it is regarded as one of His heaviest judgments when He gives any person up to the way of their own hearts, and to walk according to their own wisdom.”  John Newton

“No one can dissuade God from His purposes; nothing can turn Him aside from His plans.”   A.W. Tozer

“Accept surprises that upset your plans…..Leave the Father free Himself to weave the pattern of your days.”   Dom Helder Camara

“Our Lord never worried and was never anxious, because His purpose was never to accomplish His own plans but to fulfill God’s plans.  Fretting is wickedness for a child of God.”   Oswald Chambers

“When the dream in our heart is one that God has planted there….all of the spiritual resources of the universe are released to help us.”   Catherine Marshall

“We are the occupant of His time, the focus of His planning, and the recipient of His companionship.”    Michael Youssef

“Nothing happened to our Lord Jesus that did not come within the boundaries of the Father’s purposes.  And as Ephesians teaches us, our lives are planned in the same way.  The one thing that matters is how we meet what happens.  Limitations and frustrations can’t cast the smallest handful of dust on the glory of God…for His way is perfect.”   Amy Carmichael

“There is no broadminded approach when it comes to entering into the life that God has for you. God doesn't present you with a variety of doors to consider. He doesn't say, ‘Go ahead and pick the door that looks best to you, and after you decide, I will support your decision and bless all that you do.’ It is true that God does have a plan and a purpose for your life, but it can only be entered into through one door. Jesus Christ is that door. There is no other entrance. There is only one Gospel to believe; only one Truth to embrace; only one Shepherd to follow; only one Savior to trust; only one Lord to serve; only one Master to obey.”  Roy Lessin

“When my eye is filled with my own management of things, I am not prepared to see God acting for me; and, in that case, prayer is not the utterance of my need, but the mere superstitious performance of something which I think ought to be done, or it may be, asking God to sanctify my plans. This will never do. It is not asking God to sanctify and bless my means, but it is asking Him to do it all Himself.  We have to get over the idea that prayer is giving God advice on how to accomplish our plan.”    CH Macintosh, 1879
“God is looking for people through whom He can do the impossible.  What a pity when we plan only the things we can do by ourselves.”   A.W. Tozer

HEART SAVOR

·       My prayer for myself and for my family is to “stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.” That is, of course, the best place to be no matter what the circumstances may shout.
  • ·       God has a plan which is both perfect and pleasing.  2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.  Romans 12:2 (NIV)

·       God has a prepared plan for a prepared life which is indeed abundant – one to prosper and not harm, to give hope and a future.  I have a responsibility to present myself to God as one approved, one who does not need to be ashamed and who can correctly handle the Word of Truth.

Hebrews 12:1-3 (NIV)

1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Colossians 3:1-4 (NIV)

14 The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. 15 My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare.  Psalms 25:14-15 (NIV)

12 “O our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you.”   2 Chronicles 20:12 (NIV)

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills-- where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot slip-- he who watches over you will not slumber; 4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord watches over you-- the Lord is your shade at your right hand; 6 the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord will keep you from all harm-- he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. Psalms 121:1-8 (NIV)

8 But my eyes are fixed on you, O Sovereign Lord; in you I take refuge--do not give me over to death.   Psalms 141:8 (NIV)

3 You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. 4 Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal.  Isaiah 26:3-4 (NIV)

12 “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”   1 Peter 3:12 (NIV)

9 For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.   2 Chronicles 16:9 (NIV)

“Stop resisting Him.  Stop resenting Him.  Stop complaining.  Stop feeling sorry for yourself.  Stop demanding what you want.  Stop focusing on the outer wrappings of yourself and your circumstances.  Adjust your attitude.  Change your mind about things, about yourself, about others and about Him.  Relax in total trust.  He knows what He’s doing.  Unwrap the package!  Let go and look up!  Let Him open the eyes of your heart.  Open your eyes!”   Anne Graham Lotz

“Oh that I may be roused out of my slumber, and be watchful and ready against the coming of my Bridegroom...Even the wise virgins fell asleep.  Let this be a warning to me, O Lord.  Set thou a guard before my eyes, ears, and other faculties, lest the world again should enter through these avenues of the heart; if the spark be not speedily extinguished, it will soon break out into a flame:  thus sin is of a progressive nature, and its venom spreads very quickly and very wide, unless it be stopped and opposed in time.  Watch, therefore, over this unsteady heart of mine, O Thou Keeper of Israel; that as soon as it begins to wander from Thee, I may be alarmed to flee from sin as from a serpent.  Give me grace to look upon every hour as my last; so that being ever wisely upon my guard I may meet Thee with joy when my time is run out, whenever it shall please Thee to call me hence.”   K. H. Von Bogatzky

“The whole message of the Gospel is this: Become like Jesus. We have his self-portrait. When we keep that in front of our eyes, we will soon learn what it means to follow Jesus and become like him.”   Henri Nouwen

“We should always keep Christ before our eyes.  The devil continually tempts us to abandon Christ and seek the Father, saying to ourselves, ‘This or that will please him’.  Meanwhile we ignore Christ—the One the Father sent—so that we might listen to Him alone.  We respond as the Pharisees did and reject Christ.  We wonder, ‘Where is the Father?’   That is the question that world asks.  This is the greatest temptation to your faith.  You must devote yourself to the Word of Christ and train yourself to hold on to it so that you never lose sight Jesus.”   Martin Luther

“This upside down road, where His power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9), where troubles are an opportunity for great joy (James 1:2) because troubles usher us into His presence, and in His presence, there is fullness of joy. (Psalm 16:11).  This is Who.  A God who does not forsake. A God who is not cruel. A God who is not stingy with grace.  Not a sparrow falls outside of His care.  When we find ourselves walking through a dry and weary land where there is no water, shaking our fists at whyFix the eyes on this God.  Remember and rest in Who.  Maybe comfort isn’t found so much when we ask ‘Why is this all unfolding here and now?’ Maybe comfort is found more when we rest in Who is enfolding us all here and now.”  Katie Ganshert

“It's a promise that whatever you might be experiencing today is just one chapter in a story that He is writing, and that story isn't over yet....extract the precious from the worthless (Jeremiah 15)..Life has far more sticky situations than miraculous moments. As you encounter challenges, difficulties, and setbacks, train your eyes to ‘extract the precious.’ Train your ears to hear the promise. And train your heart to pursue relentless hope.”    Beth Guckenberger
“Today is mine. Tomorrow is none of my business. If I peer anxiously into the fog of the future, I will strain my spiritual eyes so that I will not see clearly what is required of me now.”  Elisabeth Elliot

“Let us see that we keep God before our eyes; that we walk in His ways and seek to please and glorify Him in everything, great and small.  Depend upon it, God’s work, done in God’s way, will never lack God’s supplies.”   Hudson Taylor

“One thing that Jesus brings to our attention is the importance of living in this world with our eyes fixed upon what is above. A follower of the Lord experiences eternal realities while he lives in a temporal world--he sees things that others do not see; he hears things that others do not hear; he know things that others do not know.  A follower of the Lord walks with his feet upon the ground, while his eyes are fixed upon heaven. He knows that all the things around him are passing away, and that all that is before him will last forever.”   Roy Lessin

“A Christian, being only a traveler through the world, must expect a traveller’s fare; bad roads sometimes, bad weather, and bad accommodations; but since his journey’s end and city are in heaven, all his actions, sufferings, prayers, trade, and conversation turn that way.  O Lord, grant that mine eyes may always be fixed upon this mark, so as to regulate all my designs and doings accordingly; asking myself in everything, whether it be fit for heaven, and agreeable to the mind of the heavenly Bridegroom, and to the manners of the heavenly citizens.”    K. H. Von Bogatzky

“When you get your eyes off your immediate problem and put your focus on God, you are redirecting yourself toward what God will do for you, not what man has done to you. At that point, God can work in your life to produce real growth.”   Michael Youssef

“Would you follow Christ?  Then follow Him in self-denial, in humility, in patience, and in readiness for every good work.  Follow Him with a daily cross upon your back, and look to His cross to make your burden light.  Follow Him as your Guide and Guard, and learn to see with His eyes, and to trust in His arm for defense.  Follow Him as the Friend of sinners, who healeth the broken in heart, and giveth rest to the weary souls, and casteth out none that come unto Him.   Follow Him with faith, resting your whole acceptance with God, and your title to heaven, on His meritorious blood and righteousness.  Lastly, follow Him with much prayer.  For, though He is full of compassion, He loves to be much entreated; and when He is determined to give a blessing, you must yet wrestle with Him for it.  Thus follow Jesus, and He will lead you to glory.”   K. H. Von Bogatzky
