I
WILL NOT BE SHAKEN
BREAD
1 My
soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. 2 He
alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. 5 Find
rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. 6 He
alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. 7 My
salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Psalms
62:1-2; 5-7 (NIV)
7 I will
praise the Lord, who counsels me;
even at night my heart instructs me. 8 I have set the Lord
always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalms 16:7-8 (NIV)
1 Lord, who
may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill? 2 He whose walk
is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his
heart 3 and has no slander on his tongue, who does his
neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman, 4 who despises a
vile man but honors those who fear the Lord,
who keeps his oath even when it hurts, 5 who lends his
money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who
does these things will never be shaken. Psalms
15:1-5 (NIV)
5 Good
will come to him who is generous and lends freely, who conducts his affairs
with justice. 6 Surely
he will never be shaken; a righteous man will be remembered forever. 7 He will have no fear of bad
news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
8 His
heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end he will look in triumph on
his foes. Psalms 112:5-8 (NIV)
24 “But
God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it
was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. 25 David said about him: ‘I saw
the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be
shaken. 26 Therefore
my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will live in hope, 27 because you will not abandon
me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. 28 You have made known to me the
paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.’” Acts 2:24-28 (NIV)
25 See to
it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they
refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away
from him who warns us from heaven? 26 At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has
promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” 27 The words “once more” indicate
the removing of what can be shaken--that is, created things--so that what
cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that
cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with
reverence and awe, 29 for
our “God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews
12:25-29 (NIV)
6 Do not
be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with
thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which
transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ
Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)

“No
joy can excel that of the soldier of Christ:
Jesus reveals Himself so graciously, and gives such sweet refreshment,
that the warrior feels more calm and peace in his daily strife than others in
their hours of rest.” Charles H.
Spurgeon
“Lean hard upon Me, for I bring you
through to new victories, and restoration shall follow what seems now to be a
wind of destruction. Hold fast to My
hand, and rest in My love, for of this you may be very certain: My love is unaltered; yes, I have you in My
own intensive care. My concern for you
is deeper now than when things are normal.
Draw upon the resources of My grace, and so shall you be equipped to
communicate peace and confidence to your dear ones. Heaven rejoices when you go through trials
with a singing spirit. Your Father’s
heart is cheered when you endure the test and do not question His mercy. Be like a beacon light. His own glorious radiance shall shine through
you, and Christ Himself will be revealed.”
Frances J. Roberts
“Faith
like Job’s cannot be shaken because it is the result of having been shaken.” Abraham
Heschel
“There are two
methods which the Lord graciously adopts, in order to draw our heart away from
this present world. The first is by
setting before it the attractiveness and stability of “things above:” the
second is, by faithfully declaring the evanescent [temporary] and shakable
nature of ‘things of earth.’… Now it is much better to be drawn by the joys of
heaven than driven by the sorrows of earth. The believer should not wait to be
shaken out of the present things…There is no difficulty in giving up the world
when we have, by faith, laid hold of Christ: the difficulty then would be to
hold it.” CH
Macintosh
“Do
not be afraid to suffer. Do not be
afraid to be overthrown. It is by being
cast down and not destroyed; it is by being shaken to pieces, and the pieces
torn to shreds, that men become men of might, and that one a host.” Henry Ward Beecher
“Is
your all on the altar of sacrifice laid?
Your heart does the Spirit control?
You can only be blest, and have peace and sweet rest, as you yield Him
your body and soul.” Elisha
Hoffman
“Unfaltering faith will always prove the faithfulness of God.” Cowman
“Paradoxical though it be, only that man is at rest who attains it through conflict.” Cowman
HEART SAVOR
·
I am to let nothing disturb my peace.
- · When I am anxious my eyes are fixed on the temporal not the eternal. 2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:2-3 (NIV)
·
God will prove Himself faithful every time as
I trust Him with my life.
