3 I will
proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh,
praise the greatness of our God! 4 He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his
ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.
Deuteronomy 32:3-4 (NIV)
25 For
great is the Lord and most worthy
of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.
1 Chronicles 16:25 (NIV)
10 David
praised the Lord in the presence
of the whole assembly, saying, “Praise be to you, O Lord, God of our father Israel, from everlasting to
everlasting. 11 Yours,
O Lord, is the greatness and the
power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven
and earth is yours. Yours, O Lord,
is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. 12 Wealth and honor come from
you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to
exalt and give strength to all. 13 Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your
glorious name.”
1 Chronicles 29:10-13 (NIV)
15 Through
Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise--the
fruit of lips that confess his name.
Hebrews 13:15 (NIV)
13 Then I
heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea,
and all that is in them, singing: “To him who sits on the throne and to the
Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”
Revelation 5:13 (NIV)

“Praising God lifts us above our trials and reminds us of
how He overcomes them….Our praise reminds us of Who God is. As we worship Him, the threats and burdens
that weigh us down grow smaller and He grows bigger. The thought of an exalted God Who is entirely
on our side is an awesome inspiration….Praise is based on Who He is. And He is Who He is all the time.” Chris
Tiegreen
“Be
not afraid of saying too much in the praises of God; all the danger is of
saying too little.” Matthew Henry
“See, my soul, in this verse, a
picture of thine own experience; how much art thou like David! When I look up to heaven, how often do I see
the sun both shine and set! When I look
down into myself, how often do I see my comforts rise and fall! One while I am upon Mount Tabor, and have a
glance of heaven; another while I lie in the valley of Bochim, weeping, because
I have lost sight of my heavenly country.
Joshua’s long day is many times turned into Paul’s sad night. When God would quicken my affections, he
gives me a glance of heaven, that so I may be in love with what I see. When I begin to bless myself, and rest in my
happy privileges, he draws a veil over the bright vision, that I may rest in
nothing but himself, nor loathe what I so greatly love. He suffers my happiness here to be imperfect, that so I may be pressing on to that place where I shall be perfectly
happy forever. Lord, when thou showest thyself, let me love thee; when my mountain
stands strong, let me praise thee; when thou withdrawest thyself, let me follow
thee; when thy countenance is hid, let me still believe that thou lovest me: under all my changes here, let my soul be
always breathing, panting, longing, and reaching after thee, till I shall so
perfectly enjoy thee, that I may never lose thee more Amen. Lord, guide me in this Christian race, and keep my mind intent on thee; rejoicing
when I see thy face, and trusting when I cannot see.” K. H. Bogatzky
“Men in general
praise God in such a manner that He scarcely obtains the tenth part of His
due.” John Calvin
“Praise as hard as
you pray. Amen and Amen!” Laura Black
“There
is nothing that pleases the Lord so much as praise.” Anonymous
“Whenever you
react with praise and thanksgiving for an opportunity to grow more like Jesus
in your way of reacting to things, instead of grumbling or feeling self-pity,
you will find that that whole situation will be changed into a great blessing.” Hannah Hurnard
HEART SAVOR
· God is oh so worthy of all my praise. God is Who He is all the time – He is the
great I AM – the One that never changes.
I praise Him for Who He is.
· The sacrifice of praise flows from my lips when what
His hand has allowed in my life is not of my choosing yet I seek to praise Him anyway
knowing it is for my best. My God is in
the business of making beauty from my ashes.
His desire is to conform me into the image of His Son. His methods are often through my trials. If they make me more like Jesus then I am
satisfied and my praise should flow.
· God is pleased with my praise.
