ALL
GOD’S COMMANDS ARE OUT OF LOVE
BREAD
17 This
is what the Lord says-- your
Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord
your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you
should go. 18 If
only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a
river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea.”
Isaiah 48:17-18 (NIV)
44 Moses
came with Joshua son of Nun and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing
of the people. 45 When
Moses finished reciting all these words to all Israel, 46 he said to them, “Take to
heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day, so that you may
command your children to obey carefully all the words of this law. 47 They are not just idle words
for you--they are your life. By them you will live long in the land you are
crossing the Jordan to possess.”
Deuteronomy 32:44-47 (NIV)
30 “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:30 (NIV)
2 This
is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out
his commands. 3 This
is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4 for everyone born of God
overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our
faith.
1 John 5:2-4 (NIV)
6 And
this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from
the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
2 John 1:6 (NIV)

“If God is love, then it stands to reason that all His
commands towards us are love and given for our good and His glory never one
surpassing the other.” BHY
“A Christian who
truly seeks God's best for his brothers and sisters can only do so by obeying
what God has commanded him to do. Love undirected by God's revealed will may
easily degenerate into unwise, sentimental activity. Believers who are ‘walking
in the truth’ (2 John 4), that is, living in response to what God has revealed,
love each other. Brotherly love is part of the truth God has revealed and
commanded.” Bible Knowledge Commentary
“Faith,
as Paul saw it, was a living, flaming thing leading to surrender and obedience
to the commandments of Christ.”

“Love
for God and obedience to God are so completely involved in each other that any
one of them implies the other too.” F. F.

“I cannot understand Him, but I can trust
Him. And so today, when everything physical and emotional in
me is completely drained, and there is not a single note of praise in my heart,
I choose to praise Him anyway. Not for what He does, but for
Who He is. When I cannot praise Him out of joy, I will praise Him out of
obedience. And I am learning that when I praise Him out of obedience from
the depths of the pit, it is always more meaningful then when I praise Him out
of an overflow of my heart from the heights of the mountain. And because
I know His nature, and I know that even when I don’t feel it, He is still a
kind, loving, good God, then I know that soon, He will fill my heart with joy
once again. And the praise will flow easily from the depths of my heart.” Laura Black
“Obedience to God is the most infallible evidence of
sincere and supreme love for Him.”
Nathanael

“Is your all on the altar of sacrifice laid? Your heart does the Spirit control? You can only be blest, and have peace and sweet
rest, as you yield Him your body and soul.”
Elisha Hoffman

God’s
Words are my life. I am to carefully
take them to heart. Obedience to them is
the abundant life.
