SECRET
SERVICE
BREAD
1 “Be careful not to do your ‘acts of righteousness’ before
men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in
heaven. 2 So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with
trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be
honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.
3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand
know what your right hand is doing, 4 so
that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in
secret, will reward you.”
Matthew 6:1-4 (NIV)
1 Then
Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2 “The
teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. 3 So you
must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for
they do not practice what they preach. 4 They
tie up heavy loads and put them on men's shoulders, but they themselves are not
willing to lift a finger to move them. 5 Everything
they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the
tassels on their garments long;”
Matthew 23:1-5 (NIV)
23 Whatever
you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24 since you know that you will
receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are
serving.
Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV)
