Deliverance Deuteronomy 32:39 Psalms 3:1-8 Psalms 109:21 Psalms 119:169-170 Exodus 14:30-31 Joshua 2:8-11 2 Corinthians 1:8-11 Exodus 15:11-13 11.29.19

DELIVERANCE
BREAD

39 “See now that I myself am He!  There is no god besides me.  I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand.”  Deuteronomy 32:39 (NIV)

1 O LORD, how many are my foes!  How many rise up against me! 2 Many are saying of me, God will not deliver him. Selah 3 But you are a shield around me, O LORD; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head. 4 To the LORD I cry aloud, and he answers me from his holy hill. Selah 5 I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.  6 I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side. 7 Arise, O LORD! Deliver me, O my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. 8 From the LORD comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people. Selah Psalms 3:1-8 (NIV)

21 But you, O Sovereign LORD, deal well with me for your name's sake; out of the goodness of your love, deliver me.  Psalms 109:21 (NIV)

169 May my cry come before you, O LORD; give me understanding according to your word. 170 May my supplication come before you; deliver me according to your promise. Psalms 119:169-170 (NIV)

30 That day the LORD saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. 31 And when the Israelites saw the great power the LORD displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the LORD and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.  Exodus 14:30-31 (NIV)

8 Before the spies lay down for the night, she went up on the roof 9 and said to them, “I know that the LORD has given this land to you and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you. 10 We have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan, whom you completely destroyed. 11 When we heard of it, our hearts melted and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the LORD your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.  Joshua 2:8-11 (NIV)

8 We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. 9 Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. 10 He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, 11 as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many. 2 Corinthians 1:8-11 (NIV)

11 “Who among the gods is like you, O LORD? Who is like you-- majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders? 12 You stretched out your right hand and the earth swallowed them. 13 In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.”  Exodus 15:11-13 (NIV)

“The light was natural, physical light. Its creation was an immediate victory because it dispelled darkness. Light and darkness in the Bible are also symbolic of good and evil. Here began God’s work which will culminate in the age to come when there will be no darkness (Rev. 22:5). Israel would know that God is Light—and that the Truth and the Way are with Him. In the darkness of Egypt (Exodus 10:21-24) they had light; and in the deliverance they followed His light (Exodus 13:21).”   The Bible Knowledge Commentary

“The freer the Gospel, the more sanctifying is the Gospel; and the more it is received as a doctrine of grace, the more will it be felt as a doctrine according to godliness. Salvation by grace - salvation by free grace - salvation not of works, but according to the mercy of God - salvation on such a footing is not more indispensable to the deliverance of our persons from the hand of justice, than it is to the deliverance of our hearts from the chill and the weight of ungodliness. Retain a single shred or fragment of legality with the Gospel, and we raise a topic of distrust between man and God. We take away from the power of the Gospel to melt and to conciliate. For this purpose, the freer it is, the better it is.”  Thomas Chalmers

“Forgetfulness is the fuel for idolatry (Deuteronomy 4:23). Spiritual amnesia often leads to faithlessness. This is the most important lesson for us in Deuteronomy 4. God's concern is that his people might ‘forget the things’ that they had seen and that the memory of their gracious deliverance might ‘depart’ from their hearts (Deuteronomy 4:9). Thus we read here of the critical importance of remembrance, of calling to mind again and again the history of God's dealing with us and His faithfulness at every turn.”   Sam Storms

“Let us then be encouraged to trust in the Lord forever, assured that His ever-lasting strength will be, as it has been, our deliverance and comfort.”   C. H. Spurgeon revised by Alistair Begg

“The very essence of Christ’s deliverance is the substitution of Himself for us – His life for ours!”  Horatius Bonar

“If God sends me trouble he will yield me deliverance from it, but if I make trouble myself I must bear it. If providence permits the devil to set me upon a pinnacle, even then God will help me, but if I throw myself down, and go in the very teeth of providence, then woe unto me, for I give proof by my presumption that the grace of God is not in me at all.”  C. H. Spurgeon

·        We are called to remember His past deliverances as we are so prone to forget and if He was         faithful then, He will be faithful now.
  • ·         We can set our hope on Him.

Crucify Pride Romans 12:3 1 John 2:15-17 Proverbs 8:13 Romans 12:16 Proverbs 26:12 Proverbs 11:2 Proverbs 16:18 Proverbs 6:16-19 1 Corinthians 4:7 Matthew 23:11-12 Galatians 2:20 11.27.19

CRUCIFY PRIDE
BREAD

3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.   Romans 12:3 (NIV)

15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For everything in the world--the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does--comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.  1 John 2:15-17 (NIV)

13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. Proverbs 8:13 (NIV)

16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.   Romans 12:16 (NIV)

12 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes?  There is more hope for a fool than for him. Proverbs 26:12 (NIV)

2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. Proverbs 11:2 (NIV)

18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.   Proverbs 16:18 (NIV)

16 There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.   Proverbs 6:16-19 (NIV)

7 For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?  1 Corinthians 4:7 (NIV)

11 “The greatest among you will be your servant. 12 For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”   Matthew 23:11-12 (NIV)
20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.   Galatians 2:20 (NIV)

“Pride is utter poverty of soul disguised as riches.”   John Climacus

“While God may give us extraordinary grace in one area, he never gives every grace to one member of the body, but makes us humbly, even uncomfortably, dependent on one another (Romans 12:5). And as we mature in humility, we not only acknowledge that dependence, but relish God’s wisdom in weaving us together by grace.”  Marshall Segal
“Here is the divine antidote against the pride and restless ambition of the men of this world.  Nothing is more sad than to witness a pushing, bustling, forward, self-confident spirit and style in those who profess to be followers of Him who was meek and lowly in heart.  It is such a flagrant contradiction of the spirit and precepts of Christianity, and is a sure accompaniment of an unbroken condition of the soul.  It is utterly impossible for any one to indulge in a boastful, pretentious, self-confident spirit, if ever he has really measured himself in the presence of God.  To be much alone with God is the sovereign remedy for pride and self-complacency.  May we know the reality of this in the secret of our own souls.  May the good Lord keep us truly humble, in all our ways, simply leaning on Himself and his grace…”  C H Macintosh
“Whatever knowledge, wisdom, or gifting we do have, we only have as a gift from God meant to make God, not us, look great.”   Marshall Segal
“Pride not only withdraws the heart from God, but lifts it up against God.”   Thomas Manton

“Before you can (know you are right with God) you must not only be troubled for your sins of your life, but also for the sins of your best duties and performances...before you can be at peace with God, there must be a deep conviction before you can be brought out of your self-righteousness; it is the last idol taken out of your heart. The pride of our heart will not let us submit to the righteousness of Jesus Christ. But if you never felt that you had no righteousness of your own or if you never felt the deficiency of your own righteousness, you cannot come to Jesus Christ.”  George Whitefield

“Pride makes us artificial and humility makes us real.”   Thomas Merton

“Beware of any confidence in your own wisdom, remembering that you have nothing apart from grace and know nothing apart from God. And whatever the infinite mind and imagination of heaven has shown you, remember how painfully little you still know.”  Marshall Segal
“Pride is the devil’s dragnet in which he takes more fish than in any other, except procrastination.”   Charles H. Spurgeon

“When I am weak, then I am strong. When I am foolish, then I am wise (1 Corinthians 3:18). When I am humbled, then I will be exalted (Matthew 23:12). These are the cries of crucified pride. We do not treasure our weaknesses in themselves, but the wise and humble savor the good God does through our weaknesses when we entrust our frailty and inadequacy to him. He loves to see his surpassing power perfected and put on display in the storefronts of brokenhearted souls.  Marshall Segal
“The pride that God loathes is not a healthy self-respect or a legitimate sense of personal dignity.  It is the haughty, undue self-esteem out of all proportion to our actual worth.  It is the repugnant egotism that is repulsive to both man and God.  It is that revolting conceit which swaggers before men and struts in the presence of the Almighty.  And God hates it.  Pride may take various forms.  Spiritual pride trusts in one’s own virtue rather than in the grace of God.  Intellectual pride gives its possessor self-confidence rather than God-confidence.  Pride in material things enthrones self and displaces God – secondary things are exalted to the place of first importance.   Social pride manifests itself in arrogance and status.  All forms of pride emanate from the haughty human heart, and pride is the sin that God hates most.”    Billy Graham

Humble Gratefulness Psalms 95:1-7 Psalms 7:17 Psalms 18:30-33 Colossians 3:16-17 Philippians 1:3-6 Colossians 3:15 1 Peter 5:6-7 2 Corinthians 2:14-16 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Hebrews 12:28-29 11.25.19

HUMBLE GRATEFULNESS
BREAD

1 Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. 3 For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods. 4 In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. 5 The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. 6 Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; 7 for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.   Psalms 95:1-7 (NIV)

17 I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.  Psalms 7:17 (NIV)

30 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. 31 For who is God besides the LORD?  And who is the Rock except our God? 32 It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. 33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights. Psalms 18:30-33 (NIV)

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.  Colossians 3:16-17 (NIV)

3 I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.   Philippians 1:3-6 (NIV)

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.  Colossians 3:15 (NIV)

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7 (NIV)

14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. 15 For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. 16 To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task?  2 Corinthians 2:14-16 (NIV)

16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)

28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29 for our “God is a consuming fire.”   Hebrews 12:28-29 (NIV)

“Everything is training you to think you need more to be more joyful, when the truth is, if we’d just daily train ourselves to be more thankful, we get to be infinitely more joyful.”  Ann Voskamp

“The feeling of gratitude is a humble feeling, not a proud one. It is other-exalting, not self-exalting. And it is glad-hearted, not angry or bitter. Bitter thankfulness is a contradiction in terms.”  John Piper

“With perfect consistency of mind, help me to receive all manner of events.  For we know not what to ask, and we cannot ask for one event rather than another without presumption.   We cannot desire a specific action without presuming to be a judge, and assuming responsibility for what in Your wisdom You may hide from me. O Lord, I know only one thing, and that is that it is good to follow You and wicked to offend You.  Beyond this, I do not know what is good for me, whether health or sickness, riches or poverty, or anything else in this world.  This knowledge surpasses both the wisdom of men and of  angels.  It lies hidden in the secrets of Your providence, which I adore, and will not dare to pry open.”  Blaise Pascal
“Contentment isn’t a state of organization, a weight on the scale, a state of better: better kids, better marriage, better health, better house. Contentment is never a matter of circumstances; contentment is always a state of communion — a daily embracing of God. A thankfulness for all the gifts and moments and life, just as He gives it. Trying harder may only bring harder trials and contentment, it won’t be found in the resolutions, but in the revolutions in the turning round to God.”   Ann Voskamp

“Thanksgiving and Praise ushers us into His Presence and really, is there any better place to be?  Thanking and Praising Him for His faithfulness, goodness, mercy and love towards us blesses His Holy Heart and brings much joy, contentment and peace to our own hearts as well.  It is He alone Who truly satisfies the human soul.  All else is fleeting and wanting.”  BHY

“If we do not believe we are deeply indebted to God for all we have and hope to have, then the very spring of gratitude has gone dry.”  John Piper

I Am With You Isaiah 41:10 Isaiah 43:1-3 Zephaniah 3:17 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 Psalms 32:7-8 Isaiah 40:28-31 Romans 8:31-39 John 14:15-18 11.22.19

I AM WITH YOU
BREAD

10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.  Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

1 But now, this is what the LORD says-- he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. 3 For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.  Isaiah 43:1-3 (NIV)

17 “The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”  Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)
7 To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.   2 Corinthians 12:7-10 (NIV)

7 You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.   Psalms 32:7-8 (NIV)

28 Do you not know?  Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.   Isaiah 40:28-31 (NIV)

31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died--more than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”  37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:31-39 (NIV)

15 “If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever-- 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.  John 14:15-18 (NIV)

“So by all means fight unbelief with every promise in the book. But it helps to have one central, default weapon. And for me that has been Isaiah 41:10, ‘Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.’  Precious, precious promise!”   John Piper
“Sharing with others about the Love of God manifest in countless ways - taking TIME to BE with and for people through prayer, encouraging words and even a kind smile.  Somehow Grace is transmitted through these humble, ‘ordinary’ acts — and Power is released that changes lives.  What honour has been mine to meet with innumerable people and see them take hold of the Word of God, and the ways of God, and thereby reap the changes in their lives which they so wanted and needed.  Amazing, gracious, kind and faithful Jesus. The unswerving faithfulness of God; His unceasing Love and heart toward us —— His GRACE ever-present; even when we cannot see or recognise it.  In every minute, every moment, there with arms outstretched ——Jesus!”  Paula Kirby

“Jesus embraces us with an unconditional love; one that will never cease. Just when we think there is no hope, no understanding, and no way out of our predicament, our loving Lord speaks words of affirmation and encouragement to our hearts.”  Michael Youssef

“Fear is nothing more than false evidence that appears real. One of your enemy’s greatest deceptions is that I am not in control. In truth, I am with you always, so you never have to fear. I am your heavenly Father, and I will prepare the way and protect you wherever I take you. Would you be willing to take a chance and trust Me, the God who loves you, to lead you through this life? If you accept my invitation to live without fear and totally surrendered to me, you will experience real life transformation, which only I can work inside of you. You will find the courage to step out and do something so much bigger and better than you could ever have imagined. Your soul will soar, and your faith will be energized and exercised. In the end, you will leave a legacy of faith for all who have watched you live for Me.”   Sheri Rose Shepherd

“There is a holiness I long for but it’s born in the surrender, in the ever-expanding ‘Not my will but yours.’  It’s born on the ordinary days, when I wonder, am I strong enough to live the life I’ve been given?  And God’s answer to me is, ‘I am with you always.’”   Alia Joy

“Just as a Momma rushes to the side of her wailing child, the Lord ever harkens His ear to His lamenting ‘sheep’.  He is a ‘with us’ God, staying by our side as we walk through our valleys of Baca (tears) and never leaves us nor forsakes us.  He will either change our circumstances or change us in our circumstances – either way the blessings He bestows as we call out to Him are totally other worldly.  He is the Ultimate Healer of the broken and contrite heart.”   BHY

“Throughout Scripture God speaks through kings and queens, princes and prophets, poets and pilgrims. He speaks through weather patterns, barnyard animals and even the stars in the sky. God is not only creative, but He is persistent in getting our attention and communicating with us.”   The Sacred Echo by Margaret Feinberg

“God desires and is pleased to communicate with us through the avenues of our minds, our wills, and our emotions.”   A. W. Tozer

“Strong faith enables the servants of God to look with calm contempt upon their most haughty foes.  We know that our enemies are attempting impossibilities…When the Lord arises, they shall fly as chaff before the wind, and be consumed as crackling thorns.  Their utter powerlessness to do damage to the cause of God and His truth may make the weakest soldiers in Zion’s ranks laugh them to scorn.  Above all, we know that the Most High is with us, and when He dresses Himself in arms, where are His enemies?  The kingdom is safe in the King’s hands.”  Charles H. Spurgeon

“If the Lord be with us, we have no cause of fear.  His eye is upon us, His arm over us, His ear open to our prayer, His grace sufficient, His promise unchangeable.”  John Newton
