THE
UNIQUE THE ONLY ONE
BREAD
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.
We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the
Father, full of grace and truth. John
1:14
(NIV)
18 No one has ever seen God, but God the One and
Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known. John
1:18 (NIV)
32 Then John gave this testimony: “I saw the Spirit come
down from heaven as a dove and remain on him. 33
I would not have known him, except that the one who sent me to
baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and
remain is he who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 I have seen and I testify that this is the
Son of God.” John 1:32-34 (NIV)
44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me. 46 No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. 47 I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life. 48 I am the bread of life. John 6:44-48 (NIV)

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all
creation. 16 For by him all things
were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether
thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and
for him. 17 He is before all
things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And
he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn
from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his
fullness dwell in him, 20 and
through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or
things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Colossians
1:15-20 (NIV)
9 For
in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form. Colossians
2:9 (NIV)
19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” 20 The Jews replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” 21 But the temple he had spoken of was his body. 22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken. John 2:19-22 (NIV)

1 If
you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from
his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being
like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3 Do nothing out of selfish
ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than
yourselves. 4 Each of you should
look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Your attitude should be the same as that of
Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very
nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking
the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest
place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should
bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and
every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians
2:1-11 (NIV)

Jesus into the world is the most stupendous event in human history.” Malcolm

“If
Jesus Christ be God and died for me, then no sacrifice can be too great for me
to make for Him.” C. T. Studd
“Jesus! The Name that
charms our fears, that bids our sorrows cease.”
Charles Wesley
“Barbara,
the world needs to see Jesus…As long as all they can see is you, they will
never see Me.” Barbara

“Most
of us get up in the morning saying, ‘I am going to make something of my life,
and I’ll follow Jesus too.’ But I just
want you to know that we can’t have it both ways. We have to have the formula right. ‘Follow Me,’ Jesus said, ‘and as you follow
Me, I will make something of your life.’”
Joseph Stowell, III
“…Jesus
showed us what God really wants to cleanse and purify—our hearts. Christ’s
transforming work on the cross helps us to break free from desires that hold us
in bondage. As we submit to God, we become like Christ, no longer wanting to
offend God. Out of gratitude we obey Him from the inside out.” Tremper

“Jesus is the One
who shows us the paradoxical route to meaning in a chaotic and hostile
world. It’s the paradox of the gospel:
Strength is found in weakness. Control is found in dependency. Power is found
in surrender….God uses the frustrations of this life and the hurt of relationships
to compel us to look beyond what we can control to the God who controls all
things in order to woo us to himself. As we move from control to surrender, we
move from chasing the wind under the sun to embracing God above it.” Dan
Allender
“Character
in a saint means the disposition of Jesus Christ persistently manifested.” Oswald
Chambers
“The popular image of Christ as ‘gentle
Jesus meek and mild’ simply will not do.
To be sure, He was full of love, compassion and tenderness. But He was also uninhibited in exposing error
and denouncing hypocrisy. Christ was a
controversialist.” John
Stott
“If religion is worth anything, it is worth
everything. They who do not like Christ on these terms, may leave him at
their peril. Whatever we part with for this pearl of price, we may
comfort ourselves with this belief, that it is well worth what we give for
it. The terms are, that we prefer Christ.” Matthew
Henry
“Jesus promised
His disciples three things: that they
would be completely fearless, absurdly happy, and in constant trouble.” F.R.

“God does not honor men and women and their deeds or their
books or their organizations. The Father in heaven delights to honor His
Son. It is only the Life of the Lord Jesus - His activity, clothed with
you and displayed through you - that ultimately will find the approval of God.” Major
Ian Thomas
“We
shall never find happiness by looking at our prayers, our doings, or our
feelings; it is what Jesus is, not what we are, that gives rest to the
soul. If we would at once overcome Satan
and have peace with God, it must be by ‘looking unto Jesus’. Keep thine eye simply on Him; let His death,
His sufferings, His merits, His glories, His intercession, be fresh upon thy
mind; when thou wakest in the morning look to Him; when thou liest down at
night look to Him. Oh! Let not thy hopes or fears come between thee
and Jesus; follow hard after Him, and He will never fail thee.” C.
H. Spurgeon
“Jesus is the yes to every promise of God.” William Barclay
“Jesus is the great teacher of lowliness of heart. Witness
the Master taking a towel and washing His disciples' feet! Isn't it true to say
that on earth He was always stripping off first one robe of honor and then
another until, naked, He was fastened to the cross and emptied
Himself, pouring out His lifeblood, giving it up for all of us, until they laid
Him penniless in a borrowed grave?” C. H. Spurgeon
“Strive
believer not to seek refuge in anything or anyone besides the Lord our
God. All else will surely be found wanting. It is He Who is the Rock that is greater than
all. It is He Who is sufficient to meet our every need. It is He Who gives our feet a firm place to
stand when the winds of life blow hard.
Look to Jesus alone – all else is fleeting. Why go to the paste gem when the diamond is
so readily offered?” BHY
HEART
SAVOR
- · Jesus begs the questions to everyone who follows Him: “Do you love me?” “Do you love me enough to follow Me, even if the circumstances are not of your choosing?” “Do you trust me with your life?” “Do you truly believe I have your best interest at heart?” “Do you believe I truly love you?” We are to ever be looking to the cross…
- · Jesus left all the glories of heaven for all people opening a way for us to come to Him by dying on the cross. He deserves our all. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV)
- · Our greatest honor lies in following hard after Him.
