Unfailing Love Psalms 33:5 Psalms 32:10 Psalms 33:18 Lamentations 3:22-24 Psalms 33:22 Romans 5:2-8 Romans 8:35-39 1 John 4:16-19 07.29.16

UNFAILING LOVE
BREAD

5 The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.   Psalms 33:5 (NIV)

10 Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord's unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him.   Psalms 32:10 (NIV)

18 But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love.   Psalms 33:18 (NIV)

22 Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. 24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”   Lamentations 3:22-24 (NIV)

22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you.   Psalms 33:22 (NIV)

And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. 6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.   Romans 5:2-8 (NIV)

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”  37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.   Romans 8:35-39 (NIV)

16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 17 In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 19 We love because he first loved us.   1 John 4:16-19 (NIV)

“We are shaped and fashioned by what we love.”   Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

“Many people have difficulty believing God is a God of love….If you really want to know the reality of God’s love, look at the Cross….It was love that restrained Him when He was falsely accused of blasphemy and led to Golgotha to die with common thieves.  He raised not a hand against His enemies.  It was love that kept Him from calling legions of angels to come to His defense.  It was love that made Him, in a moment of agonizing pain, pause and give hope to a repentant sinner who cried, ‘Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom’ (Luke 23:42)….Does God love us?  Yes….and the proof is the Cross.”   Billy Graham

“A true champion extends grace and kindness because he knows the transformation that has taken place in his own heart, and he realizes those who receive God's love and grace have no other course of action but to give God's love away.”   Michael Youssef

“We ought not to be weary of doing little things for the love of God, who regards not the greatness of the work, but the love with which it is performed.”   Brother Lawrence

“There is no love without self-giving.  There is no self-giving without pain.  Therefore, there is no love without suffering.  Suffering is an essential ingredient of agape love and therefore of a moral universe.  Even God did not love without cost……There is no such thing as a saint who has not suffered.”    Paul E. Billheimer

“Our Creator is infinitely good, and His will is love: to submit to one who is ‘too wise to err, too good to be unkind,’ should not be hard.”  C.H. Spurgeon

“Knowing Him as loving Father is the foundation for intimate relationship with Him. First Corinthians 13:4-7 is a picture of the Father's love. Personalize it, and receive it for yourself. My Father who loves me is patient with me, kind to me.... My Father's love is not rude, nor self-seeking, not easily angered, and keeps no record of wrongs. My Father's love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. My Father's love always protects me, always trusts me, always hopes [believes the best about me], always perseveres and never gives up on me. My Father's love for me never fails.”   Sylvia Gunter

“O love that wilt not let me go, I rest my weary soul in Thee.  I give Thee back the life I owe, that in Thine ocean depths its flow, may richer fuller be.  O light that followest all my way, I yield my flickering torch to Thee.  My heart restores its borrowed ray, that in thy sunshine’s blaze its day, may brighter fairer be.  O joy that seekest me through pain, I cannot close my heart to Thee.  I trace the rainbow through the rain, and feel the promise is not vain, that morn shall tearless be.  O cross that liftest up my head, I dare not ask to fly from Thee.  I lay in dust life’s glory dead, and from the ground there blossoms red, life that shall endless be.”   George Matheson

“Jesus, Thou art all compassion, pure, unbounded love Thou art.”  Charles Wesley

“The end of learning is to know God, and out of that knowledge to love Him and imitate Him.”  John Milton

“The more we know Him, the more we will love Him.  The more we love Him, the more we will serve Him.  The more we serve Him, the richer and fuller and more abundant will our lives become.”  BHY

Truth Refutes Accusing Tongues Psalms 5:8-12 Psalms 31:19-20 Isaiah 54:17 Isaiah 41:11-13 Psalms 17:2 Psalms 17:8-10 Psalms 17:14 Proverbs 6:16-19 07.27.16

TRUTH REFUTES ACCUSING TONGUES
BREAD

8 Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies-- make straight your way before me. 9 Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with destruction. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue they speak deceit. 10 Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you. 11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. 12 For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. Psalms 5:8-12 (NIV)

19 How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you. 20 In the shelter of your presence you hide them from the intrigues of men; in your dwelling you keep them safe from accusing tongues.   Psalms 31:19-20 (NIV)

17 “No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord.   Isaiah 54:17 (NIV)

11 “All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. 12 Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. 13 For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”  Isaiah 41:11-13 (NIV)

2 May my vindication come from you; may your eyes see what is right.  Psalms 17:2 (NIV)

8 Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings 9 from the wicked who assail me, from my mortal enemies who surround me. 10 They close up their callous hearts, and their mouths speak with arrogance.   Psalms 17:8-10 (NIV)

14 O Lord, by your hand save me from such men, from men of this world whose reward is in this life. You still the hunger of those you cherish; their sons have plenty, and they store up wealth for their children.   Psalms 17:14 (NIV)

16 There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.   Proverbs 6:16-19 (NIV)

It doesn’t matter to me if you listen to Billy Graham or follow Camus—you are in need. No one in the human race is exempt.  It’s in our DNA…When we finally acknowledge our need for forgiveness and come to God in repentance, we find true power; for we now have nothing to hide or protect, we don't care what people say or think about us, we are willing to speak truth gently, and we are enabled to speak with tremendous, supernatural power.”   Steve Brown

“Peace is such a precious jewel that I would give anything for it but truth.”   Matthew Henry

“Truth must enter into the soul, penetrate and saturate it, or else it is of no value.  Doctrines held as a matter of creed are like bread in the hand, which ministers no nourishment to the frame, but doctrine accepted by the heart, is as food digested, which, by assimilation, sustains and builds up the body.”  Charles H. Come Alive Again Romans 13:11-12 Ephesians 5:13-17 Ezekiel 37:1-10 Psalms 80:17-19 John 10:10 Revelation 3:14-20 07.25.16

COME ALIVE AGAIN
BREAD

11 And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.   Romans 13:11-12 (NIV)

13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, 14 for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: “Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”  15 Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.   Ephesians 5:13-17 (NIV)

1 The hand of the Lord was upon me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. 2 He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. 3 He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “O Sovereign Lord, you alone know.” 4 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! 5 This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. 6 I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”7 So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8 I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them. 9 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’” 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet--a vast army.   Ezekiel 37:1-10 (NIV)

17 Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand, the son of man you have raised up for yourself. 18 Then we will not turn away from you; revive us, and we will call on your name. 19 Restore us, O Lord God Almighty; make your face shine upon us, that we may be saved. Psalms 80:17-19 (NIV)

10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.   John 10:10 (NIV)

14 “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation. 15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. 19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent. 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.”   Revelation 3:14-20 (NIV)

“To be revived is a blessing which can only be enjoyed by those who have some degree of life. Those who have no spiritual life are not, and cannot be, in the strictest sense of the term, subjects of revival. . . . A true revival is to be looked for in the church of God.”   C. H. Spurgeon

“What is revival? A simple definition is ‘to come alive again.’ Revival is the spark, if you will, that starts the engine. And periodically we need a new spark.  Revival is like waking up from your sleep. One person defined it as nothing more or less than a new beginning of obedience to God.  The great evangelist Billy Sunday once said, ‘They say that a revival is but temporary. So is a bath, but it does you good.’  A revival may be only temporary, but we need one right now.  We are not praying that nonbelievers have a revival, because they don't need one. They need salvation. The church needs revival. Revival is a church word, and it is for believers only—believers who once, perhaps, were more alive than they are today and need to be revived again.”   Greg Laurie

“We cannot organize revival, but we can set our sails to catch the wind from heaven when God chooses to blow upon His people once again.”    G. Campbell Morgan

“Every sermon, every Bible lesson, every word of testimony, and every verse of Scripture is a warning, calling us to repentance and revival.  Our God is a consuming fire, and a day of judgment is coming.  We must not neglect the warning, and today’s church must not forget that our message includes the ministry of warning.”   Robert J. Morgan

“The experience of revival is nothing more than a new beginning of obedience to God.”
Charles Finney

“You’ll know your heart’s been set aflame by the fire of revival when nothing else matters to you as much as He does – and your love for Him.”     Anne Graham Lotz
“When we are praying for revival, we are praying according to the will of God. When we are praying for the salvation of a loved one, we are praying according to the will of God. We need to press forward in our prayers and seek His face, not backing down.  We cannot organize a revival, but we can agonize for one in prayer. Perhaps we can prepare the ground. Better yet, we ought to ‘preprayer’ the ground. Press on.”   Greg Laurie

Goodness In The Land Of The Living Genesis 1:3-31 Psalms 23:6 Psalms 27:13-14 Psalms 31:19 John 3:16 07.22.16

GOODNESS IN THE LAND OF THE LIVING

BREAD

3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning--the first day. 6 And God said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water.” 7 So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the expanse “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning--the second day. 9 And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good. 11 Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening, and there was morning--the third day. 14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. 16 God made two great lights--the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning--the fourth day. 20 And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.” 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” 23 And there was evening, and there was morning--the fifth day. 24 And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”  27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.  28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” 29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground--everything that has the breath of life in it--I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning--the sixth day.   Genesis 1:3-31 (NIV)

6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.   Psalms 23:6 (NIV)

13 I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. 14 Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.   Psalms 27:13-14 (NIV)

19 How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you.   Psalms 31:19 (NIV)

16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”   John 3:16 (NIV)

“Immortal, invisible, God only wise, In light inaccessible hid from our eyes, Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.  Unresting, unhasting and silent as light, Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might; Thy justice like mountains high soaring above Thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love.”   Walter C. “Wherefore it follows that God created the whole world for the manifestation of his love and goodness to the rational part of the world. Therefore there will doubtless be a time wherein God will fully manifest his love to good men, to those that answer the end of their creation. But reason tells us that they that fully enjoy the love of God must be exceeding happy beyond compare: for how happy are men sometimes in the love one of another. How much more happy, then, must they necessarily be in the enjoyment of the love of him who is infinitely greater, better and more excellent than any creature.” Jonathan Edwards

“The grace of God is love freely shown towards guilty sinners, contrary to their merit and indeed in defiance of their demerit.  It is God showing goodness to persons who deserve only severity, and had no reason to expect anything but severity.  We have seen why the thought of grace means so little to some church people—namely, because they do not share the beliefs about God and man which it presupposes.  Now we have to ask:  why should this thought mean so much to others?  The answer is not far to seek; indeed, it is evident from what has already been said.  It is surely clear that, once a man is convinced that his state and need are as described, the New Testament gospel of grace cannot but sweep him off his feet with wonder and joy.  For it tells how our Judge has become our Saviour.”  J.I. 1 The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; 2 for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters.   Psalms 24:1-2 (NIV)

29 Moses replied, “When I have gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands in prayer to the Lord. The thunder will stop and there will be no more hail, so you may know that the earth is the Lord's.”   Exodus 9:29 (NIV)

11 Who has a claim against me that I must pay? Everything under heaven belongs to me.  Job 41:11 (NIV)

24 When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything in them.”   Acts 4:24 (NIV)

26 for, “The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it.”   1 Corinthians 10:26 (NIV)

6 “This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. 7 I will shake all nations, and the desired of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord Almighty. 8 ‘The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ declares the Lord Almighty.”   Haggai 2:6-8 (NIV)

7 “Hear, O my people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, your God. 8 I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, which are ever before me. 9 I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, 10 for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. 11 I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine. 12 If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it.”   Psalms 50:7-12 (NIV)

25 “To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One. 26 Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. 27 Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the Lord; my cause is disregarded by my God”? 28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.   Isaiah 40:25-31 (NIV)

35 “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?” 36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever!  Amen.  Romans 11:35-36 (NIV)

“If all we bring to God is our moral striving, we’re back at the same lie that put us in need of salvation.  We’re stuck with our independent talents, longing, and resolve to make it happen.  This self-sufficient effort to assuage a distant deity – it nauseates God.”   John Lynch

“Life is a celebration; delight in it. For us to enjoy life and to see it as a celebration, there are three things that we must do: rejoice (Ecclesiastes 11:7, 9), remove (11:10), and remember (12:1). Rejoice in each day. Anticipate every new day as a wrapped gift from the hand of God, and look forward to waking up and unwrapping that wonderful gift. Start your day with gratitude. Remove bitterness, false beliefs, bad habits, and unwholesome relationships from your life now before they endanger your future. Remember the constant presence of God. Wherever you go, He is with you, and He is watching over you. Remember to obey His Word and to seek His righteousness and His Kingdom first -- for that is the secret to your success. Remember to place Him first in every decision you make.”    Michael Youssef

HEART SAVOR

  • ·        God owns all – even (or especially) my life:  19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.   1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV)
  • ·       This leaves NO room for flesh to boast:  7 For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?  1 Corinthians 4:6-7 (NIV)
  • ·        Knowing God owns all and allowing His Spirit free reign in living out my life – with constant open hands - keeps me from self-sufficient efforts which are fruitless and will never make it through the fire which will test the quality of each man’s work.
